After a few days of dicking around with motor mounts I got the T4 in there. Except for the turbo I have a stock 745i manifold withe the Tuoma modified wastegate. Before I do anything crazy. How do you 545i guys fit in the wastegate. I was thinking, modify the framerail with a big friggin hammer. Or is there a better way. Also move up the brakelines and the other stuff over there. I have a full shop to work with guys so lemme know the deal before I do anything retarded. Thanks.

I cut part of the frame rail out - just what was neccessary. I now use a strut brace to compensate for the minor loss of support there. I don't have ABS, so I can't help you with the brake lines, but I really like what one of the guys did on this board though. He moved the ABS pump to the other side of the ebay - elegant solution. I've heard other people just bending them up (or maybe down?) out of the way. They would/will definately need some type of heat shielding though.

Hope this helps.

I think I'm the only person thus far who has the 745i setup without moving the ABS lines. You need a modified engine mount - or a 533i mount and about an inch of washers. You're basically tilting the engine enough to make the pieces fit. You'll only have milimeters worth of clearance but it shouldn't cause any problems. Just change your fluid out regularly (every 6 mo.)

Do you use a strut brace? Are there any interference issues there with tilting the engine up? Are you running a water to air intercooler? Are there any clearance issues there? When you add the inch of washers, do you have any mount stud left to spin a nut on? Just curious here. Got any pics?

So I can just tilt the engine up an inch and I'll have enough room to fit the wastegate?

Yes, a front and rear strut brace
Are you running a water to air intercooler?
Nope, I'm running non-intercooled right now

I have a small ding in my hood where the bypass valve is just baaaaarely too big
Are there any clearance issues there?
Nope
When you add the inch of washers, do you have any mount stud left to spin a nut on?
Yep, plenty
Got any pics?
Not of the finished product - just the engine on the table being worked on.
So I can just tilt the engine up an inch and I'll have enough room to fit the wastegate?

Pretty much, yep. Haven't had a single problem with the engine being tilted for 35,000 miles.

I'll figure that out after some research, maybe megasquirt. Right now I'm just gonna run 6# of boost until I get everything running smoothly.
