Hey i have a gold 1988 735i 5 speed manual. I was wondering if i decided to sell what should i price it at?
Its gold with 33k original miles
Runs great have had it sitting for the past 2 yrs of course i start it up regularly.
No check engine lights she basically brand new.
seats are not torn interior is clean
I have lots of after market parts some installed some still in the box.
Green racing brake pads
Rear touring billstien shocks
New fuel filter
2 3 inch outlet magnoflo racing catalystic converters for dual exhaust
Tinted tail lights
Smoked angel eye headlight protectors
19inch polished chrome lowenhart replica staggered rims still in box with 1 inch aluminum adapters 5x120 to 5x114.3
Carbon fiber rear window spoiler unpainted
Power racing m5 carbon fiber sport front bumper installed but unpainted
Black mesh flipout TV Radio
1500 w sub amp, 31 band eq. 300w tweeters component speakers deep cycle battery yellow cap
18 inch sub with box
Electronic back up mirror
Sunroof
Heated seats

BTW everything works ac etc.
The only thing that it needs is a paint job had some body work done to the pasengerside fender and hhod so those would need to be painted along with the sport bumper and spoiler...rest of the paint is in good condition

33k on it? Sounds like it's a twin to my car; same color, same year, five-speed...
I've got to agree with Chas & Paul on the add-ons. It's a shame to add a bunch of aftermarket crap to a car like that; it's a large luxury car, not a rice burner, and would probably be worth more without them. As for suggested selling price, that's hard to judge without at least seeing photos, but even then... If you've got photos on Photobucket, Flickr or Picasa, just post a link.
By the way, you could probably delete the post in the Cars For Sale section, since it's basically a duplicate of this one. I almost posted to that; as long as there are no responses, you can delete it.
Also, where are you and the car located?

Re: Okay Guys
Thank you for the opportunity to practice diplomacy and find the right words to answer your question.Zaylonis wrote:So if i put back the original bumper and with the 33k what would she go for ? and should i put the sound system in and rims?
It is rare that a car with only 33K would have very little value, but the problem you face is that these modifications, in fact, destroy the value of this car. Perhaps putting back the bumper and the hood would help, but I highly doubt you will find a buyer for this car... unless someone already has a 7er and they purchase this for parts, which means a thousand or two at most, especially for a car sitting outside in four seasons.
Also, the 1988 E32 was generated in multiple versions: Type I, Type II, and Type III. I recall they had serious electrical problems until Type III, and even then there were issues. So knowing which one it is (in the doorjam as I recall) helps a bit.
I fear photos of the interior as well as the side that "needs paint" will only confirm this is the case. What I can tell you is that if the car was in "original" condition, meaning that little has changed to this car since it was purchased in 1988, it could be worth something, possibly even 10K or so. But in the shape you are presenting it, and telling us it needs a paint job while not showing us any photos of that side of the car, simply will not generate any interest. And as you can see from my prior comments and others (the "boob job" comment was spot on), you will likely only draw obnoxious comments from list members because this WOULD have been a highly desirable car with 33k miles and a 5-speed but now it is not and unlikely to become desirable anymore. The only people likely to buy this car are people that know absolutely nothing about cars or BMWs, see shiny wheels, and buy on impulse.
Hope this helps you with your decision,
.steve.

That looks a little darker than my car; Bahama Beige or Bronzit?
And that bumper is truly awful. You didn't actually spend real money on that, did you? Burn it. With fire.
Yes, put the original bumper back on, then sell the sound gear and "rimz" separately; you'd be wrong to think the car is more valuable with them. You'd be better off returning these parts than putting them on the car:
If the hood & fender were painted professionally, and the car was in bone-stock configuration (ie... none of the crappy tinted taillights or angel-eye anything), the mileage is verifiable, it runs & drives well, and you have a decent amount of maintenance records for it, $5,000 is where I'd start, and maybe go up from there depending on what I saw. That's a lot of ifs though.

If the car really has only 33k on it, the Billstien shocks probably aren't needed. Throw the new fuel filter in the trunk as a bonus for the new owner.Green racing brake pads

If I were you, I'd put the original bumper and hood back on. Find a gold gas door at a junk yard and make the car look like it did when it was new. Forget about your amp, tv, speakers, carbon fiber (really, on an 12,000lb car?) and all of the other add ons. Sell those separately. I'd even take off the tints on the lenses. Make it look adult owned and driven if you know what I mean.
Put your new wheels on and include the originals in the sale. If you have some spare money, take it to a detailer to see if it's possible to make the bad paint more acceptable. I'd say as long as the clear coat isn't peeling, not too many people are going to use that as a lowering point on the price. Which brings me to my final thought. If all of those things were done, I'd give an estimate of about 2500 and that's only if you can document that 33k is the real mileage and not some cluster swap. If not, $1200 but at least you'll have all of that other stuff to sell. And yes I'm a cheap bastard.

I mean of YOU, not the car.
And to clarify, I mean: a photo of you WITH the car.
Please.
Thanks,
