What did you do to your other car(s) today?
Finally finished installing the Eibach springs and Billie HDs on the e32. Low & mean. There doesn't seem to be much travel in the springs, at least compared to the originals. Haven't driven it yet, but hoping it doesn't ride like a buckboard.
Oh, and on the Freestar... I called the dealership on Monday of this week hoping to set up an appointment to get the repair done; seems that there are a lot of Freestar owners who got their letters at the same time and are looking to get the job done too. The dealership has dedicated one tech to doing these recall repairs, and it typically takes a full day, so they only schedule one per day, and my name is about three weeks out on the list. I was the fourth person to call that day.

Replaced the driver's side motor mount on the wagon, which was the cause of multiple knocks and some driveline shudder. It had separated and the metal part of the upper portion was just sitting on the metal part of the lower portion. Now I can give it some real throttle without worrying. Also finally wired in the reverse lights (the V8 manual lights are in a completely different portion of the harness compared to the auto 6 cylinder car.) Noticed that only one reverse light worked and traced the issue to the passenger tailgate harness. Repaired that and a couple of other connections (which fixed the release for the hatch glass) and went ahead and fixed the microswitch for the hatch release. Only thing that doesn't work back there now is the microswitch for the hatch ajar/cargo light. Probably has a broken wire in the driver side gate harness. I probably don't care enough to fix it for now.
Also got to drain 3-5 gallons of water from the floor boards on the pass side. The sunroof drain on the RF kept clogging. I dug into why, and it wasn't clogged anywhere up top, it was mildly clogged at the rocker drain. I can only guess, but I think this was allowing the drain area to fill up to the point that the drain tube was submerged, which may have allowed for an air bubble to reduce flow. Hard to say, though. I opened up the rocker drains and cut the bottom of the tube at a steeper angle. Maybe that will help. Meanwhile I popped out the floor plugs to let the nasty water out. It has rained on and off for weeks here, and always in heavy downpours that overwhelmed the drains. I really feel like welding that stupid thing shut sometimes.

Polished up the headlights on the Highlander. Also decided to detail the glass (tried the clay bar on the windshield, we will see how it fairs now in wet weather) And finally got around the scrapping the sap off the sun roof. The glass looks nice, but riddle me this: How the hells does the glass get so scratched up in 9 years!? It's like people take diamonds to it on their spare time. Anywho...

Dirt and road salt in conjunction with an improperly used ice scraper in the winter? That's my best guess.unt0uchable wrote:... And finally got around the scrapping the sap off the sun roof. Also PM me if you need wedding photographer advice. I shoot weddings and could assist you if needed.

Drove the wife's car. It was a wonderful experience.
Looks like a little of both. Nice upgrade but nothing too wild.1st 5er wrote:You decide.cddallara wrote:Pics or it didn't happen!1st 5er wrote:Bought a set of wheels for the Touring.

Jezebel got a full rubdown this weekend. I don't remember the last time I did that on this car. She's got a lot of curves. Since she only does about 100 miles per year on really nice days, I usually only give her a whore-bath (i.e. Meguiars Quick-Detail). She looks good for an old girl with a so-so paint job from 1981, particularly considering that she lived outside for most of the '80's while my wife drove her during her high school years.
While replacing the tranny extension boot I noticed a pinhole in the gas tank, which got a LOT worse when I rubbed the area. I slushed and sealed the tank back in 1998, and I suspect that the materials used then were not made to withstand alcohol. ( ethanol ) Rather than go through that process again, I ordered a replacement tank.
And while the car is up in the air waiting for a tank, I went after the ticky-ticky rear wheel bearing that's been bothering me for a couple of years.
The dremel retains the mantle of "Most-Abused Tool!"

Drove the ix to cars and coffee. I think that car bends time.
How the hell did I make a 235 mile trip in 2:30? I swear I wasn't driving THAT fast... Sure does kill the MPG, though.
(edit: tricky auto correct there. Duuuuuh. )

Installed new (lower) intake manifold gasket on wife's Suburban. She has put 305K miles on it. We bought it new in 1999.
I swear she has the car killer gene, but that 5.7L is resisting...
In last 3 months she lost all the coolant - but it did not get "hot". And, she ran it till the oil light came on and there was no oil in it. And she wonders why she does not drive the E28??

Spent the weekend going over the fleet. I love it when things start popping up all at once like this.
I get to do a headgasket on the roach.
But first the truck needs a new intermediate shaft and maybe bearing in the steering column, plus new tires.
Courtney replaced a headlight assembly and is putting new plugs in her Taurus by herself. (Closest I saw to a proud dad smilie)
The Z needs a new tensioner pulley.
And the new clutch is slipping on the M5. I don't know if I should hope it's just the flywheel I resurfaced and reused or the stories I heard after the fact about the ClutchMasters clutches. Either way, not something I wanted to do again.
