Megasquirt V3 Board complete (MSII)
Well, I did a little soldering in the dorm today (shhh...) and finished up the ECU. Everything is working except my fast-idle according to the LED on the stimulator board, but that shouldn't take too long to track down. The post office says my 60-2 wheel and crank sensor is waiting for me to pick up tomorrow. Hopefully I can make a run to a Pull-A-Part this week to grab a few things and I'll be on my way. Might have a brain transplant next weekend if all goes well.
By fast idle you mean the ICV control lines, right. In this case the PWM line to the ICV. By schem I think the three line ICV is modded by not having the 2 PWM lines. One is used and the other end of the ICV is tied to GND through a power resister. ICV center it obviously +12V.
Theres alot of discussion on how well this works not having the 2 line interface. I hope it works OK.

Peter is running VR off the old-style distributor, but he suggested it would be better to get the M30B35 equipment than to figure out the speed and reference sensor stuff. We'll find out soon enough. A few other guys here at school that know quite a bit about MS have been saying it should work. I guess I'll find out.
I'll be doing the rpm/referenct sensor stuff(if all goes well) in the next 2 weeks. I will have the circuit ready on schematic a week or so after that. Peter, yourself or anyone else that is ready to try it can. I wont be using it myself for a while, as I won't install the MS for Id guess 2 months. But Im 95% sure we can make the existing sensors work, its just a matter if the MS software can support it. The electronics are trivial.

I don't doubt that it can be done. Peter said he's been working on for a little while, but I don't think he's spending a lot of time on it. If I can't get the 60-2 working for some reason, I might give your work a try. I'm sure others will be very interested in trying it too. I suspect Bill in MN would be.
Are you talking about an IC that divides by two? What IC is that? If not, what is specifically entailed with "wire in on the proto type area a divide by 2 on the output of the crank 60-2 trigger circuit"?russc wrote:Umm, at the least, you can wire in on the proto type area a divide by 2 on the output of the crank 60-2 trigger circuit. This would divide down the 60-2 to 30-1. Im pretty sure the MSII supports that.
A flip flop IC is commonly used as a divider. The first pulse turns it on, the second turns it off, etc. I would suggest putting it through an op amp to bring it up to CMOS level and then through a bounceless buffer to make it a square wave and then through the flip flop.
W/O looking at the MS circuit, I don't think you need a buffer for the d-flop. You would take the 60-2 signal after the signal conditioner thats already there. It should be in the proper IC family so just a flop is needed.
Ill have to look at the MS circuit again to verify that.

i'll be doing MS on mine but not MS2
i'll be doing MegaSquirt 'n Spark -E
dont mean to hijack the thread, but is there anyone out there that is willing to give up working m30 base settings ( msq files )?
example: ve tables, constants, afr table....
or at least somewhere to begin. it'll help everyone save many hours , and possibly a couple of set of plugs
I can send you my msq and VE maps also, although I have a lowly 3 liter at the moment.
have u checked the MS forums?
i think there's a few ppl on there that
can send u a base map to at least get 'er started...
altho dont quote me on that please =]
While there are lots of ppl there, none have done a M30 except for PeterF, Todd and Altus. If you can get them to send you a base map, Mmmmm. You might have better luck using $ to get a base map from them.
I searched the entire MS forum for all BMW content, and the only M30 there was PeterF car.
