What did you do to your other car(s) today?
I sold mine - the E30 M3 as shown below:
I'd owned this car, a really nice, stock example with 59K, for just over 2 years when it was sold to Enthusiast Auto Group, for a very fair price in a really painless transaction. It's on their website now with the price TBD. I enjoyed the car (my second E30 M3) but was not really sad to see it go. Just never experienced the attachment to it that I've had for the E28 and E24 cars. So now on the hunt for something else to fill the space!

Hey Chris. This was a nice example but I finally was unable to avoid scratching the itch to go car shopping again. Other than the B9 (5 years) and the M5 (3 years), 2 years is about my max for a car before I get bored with it and am ready to move on to something else. So I've freed up some space and some coin and am kicking tires again. Great fun!
Flying up north on Friday to check out something that looks pretty neat. ////////MMMMM We'll see!

It was a very nice ride, thank you.wkohler wrote:On a much more boring note than whatever Mike picked up, I got central locking working in the 745.
180 miles to Kohler's house, x3 registered 28.3 mpg. I barely touched 70. I had to get home faster, though. Cranked it up to 80 most of the way on 8. The average fell to 26.1 mpg. Still not bad for a 3.0 with 6MT and 143k.
Worked on replacing the subframe bushings on the X5. ≠ fun. The magic bushing puller I cobbled together that worked so swell for the e32 didn't cut it for this car; hardly any lip hanging off the edge of the subframe, so nothing to grip. Plan B -- modify the puller to work more like this one...
... with all-thread pulling a follower plate behind the bushing. Also thinking the BMW tool would be money well spent, especially when there are four of the blasted things on there.
Yeah, I know; SawsAll.

Thanks for the interest, guys. To answer rcbmw's question, the search ended in Milwaukee, WI (and I tried to hook up with C.R. Kreiger while I was there but unfortunate circumstances prevented that!) and a 1985 M635CSi, 41K. Purchased from the physician (2nd) owner who's had the car since 1987. Sonderlackierung (490) - looks like hennarot - with perl beige interior, cat delete, new stock exhaust, runs like a scalded ape in a tailor-made suit. A really fabulous car that just needs some very minor OCD fettling. Even the windshield is original and free of pitting - and says "Made in WEST Germany"!rcbmw wrote:Well, where did the search end?gray635 wrote:^^^^ Money spent. Space filled. More details to follow, if anyone's interested. It's been awhile since I've been this charged up about a "new" car.
Best,

I'm really excited about this car and anxious to get it to its new home in middle GA. At least she'll get some regular exercise here and won't be cooped up from October - May every year, riding out the winter. Took a few photos and will try to get them posted up tomorrow, for those who might have some interest.

Congratulations. Aside from slight model and color differences, it seems you've checked everything off the list...gray635 wrote:Thanks for the interest, guys. Other cars?
My turbocharged E30 325iX has moved into a work station at the shop I work at... it won't be mine for much longer.
My '89 325iS has been sitting for 2 years now. The poor thing was totaled before it was parked, but soon the transmission and many parts of the engine will be going into my '88 E30 Zender convertible project.
My '88 Zender convertible project has been sitting at the shop I work at for a couple months, hardly any progress at all. =\
My '79 Merc 300SD had a catastrophic floor board failure when the driver seat fell through the floor right before I sold it... so it's also sitting at the shop I work at, who knows when it'll get fixed.
Nothing at all has happened to the '85 Merc 300D since the starter died. I'd love to get rid of it.
And I just traded my rather nice looking '85 Merc 300TD for my '85 535i. Best trade I've ever made.

Had a nasty clunk coming from the rear end of the e32 the last few days; the e32 with the brand new Billie HDs, Eibach lowering springs, and Moosehead Engineering shock mounts. Jacked up the rear end, pulled the rear seat, removed the right rear shock, and everything looked fine. Tightened down the top nuts on the shocks, per Paul's suggestion, then put it all back together & took it for a drive. No more clunk.
My son & I are getting a little too much practice at that whole procedure; we got the job done in just under 1 1/2 hours, from jack up to jack down & tools put away. And that included replacing the two rubber exhaust hangers near the rear axle.

As I got out of the truck last night, heading in to work, I heard a loud hissing. Went around checking tires and found a duplex 16d sticking out of the rear passenger tire. The truck is without a tire carier so Cindy goes without a spare in town. I had to call my current favorite child Courtney to bring the spare, floor jack, breaker bar, socket and torque wrench.
Every single lug fought to stay where it was until the last turn off of the bolt. Then fought the whole way back. I managed to strip at least one beyond usefulness and broke another. At least it made it home ok with six more holding things together.
I'm really sick of vehicle problems lately.

Started on some rear end bushing replacement work on the 330 today. It would have gone alot faster if I had not rounded off one of those outer torx halfshaft bolts. I eventually dremeled the leetle fokker to death. But it turned a 4 hour job into a 6+ hour job.
With some help on the labor side.....
I'll finish up control arms and other crap tomorrow, after brunch and hayrides. Too many hurricanes this evening....
