SOLD: 1995 540i/6 M-Sport Clone
SOLD: 1995 540i/6 M-Sport Clone
Well I think the time has come. I am ready to move to a different BMW now that the E28 is good to take the DD status. The E34 will be replaced by an S38 powered car.
Whats offered for sale in this thread is a Hellrot (bright red) on parchment 1995 E34 540i with a manual 6 speed transmission, 1 out of 56 (total 1524 HE53).
I have owned the car since 2009. I am the 4th owner. I have converted it to a complete M-Sport clone with original M-Sport front bumper, rear M5 bumper, M-tech mirrors, M3 steering wheel that came in that year.
Mods are as follows (the good):
M-Sport front bumper - brand new
M5 rear bumper
M-Tech mirrors (they came first on the E34 before the M3 so its incorrect to call them M3 mirrors plus they are different in mounting)
E36 M3 steering wheel
Bilstein Sport/Vogtlands
18'' staggered Rondell 58s
Euro bumper trim
Euro Bosch smilies headlights
Clear tails, corners and sidemarkers
3.15 LSD from an 1988 E32 750iL
B&B triflow resonator and Magnaflow 14816 muffler
E36 M3 Mishimoto Radiator
E60 545i Short Shifter
ZHP Weighted shift knob
Rear headrest, map lights, rear storage all out of e32
Black birdeye maplewood trim (came in 1993 E34 M5)
M5 rear plate surround
M5 shift surround
E32 rear manual shade
Shadow line
The not so good:
I would rate the interior at 9/10. There is always more to ask - driver seat bolster is worn out. No seat twist. Pretty clean all around.
The exterior is about 7/10. There is slight surface rust on the doors - yes sadly the car was "born" and lived in the northeast. Clear coat condition is excellent - the Texas blazing sun has no chance of getting to the car since I park in a car port at work and always garaged at home (has been garaged for 2 years now). There are few dings here and there.
Current reading on the odometer is a little shy of 178k. Maintenance is up to date. It was my daily driver. The sound of rumbling V8 made my mornings for sure!
Clean Texas title in hand.
Maintenance as of (02/02/13):
- Motor Mounts
- Belts
- WP pulley
- Aluminium Thermostat Housing
- New oil pressure inlet/outlet hoses
- New oil return hose
- New o-rings on those hoses and new WP gasket
- Fresh oil, coolant and power steering fluid.
- Brand new battery
Maintenance as of (12/05/2013):
- New Water Pump
- New Alternator
- New Serpentine Belt
With that said the car is not for sale anymore. The right offer was not made so I am keeping the car for now.
2012 E34 bf.c calendar submission - currently on display for December.
2013 E34 bf.c calendar submission - July.

You don't have to drive too far away - just downtown Austin I will be at the F1 race as well turn 11W.brannman wrote:Flying into Austin tomorrow for the F1 race, staying in Round Rock. Hmmm, how far to drive to see this beauty, and how hard would I have to work to convince the wife to drive home to Seattle....
Interested in a 1991 e34 M5, ~172K...
Just wondering how I am going to get back to Houston hah
And yes E34 M5, especially if its that red one in the signature!
Ironically, you are the second person from Seattle to be interested in the car.
Thank you sir. I hope she finds a nice home (preferably far away from here, it will be heart breaking to see it around).Tim in N FL wrote:Very nicely done, Sir. GLWS! I'd love to hear a clip of that M60 V8.
@ brannman:
I was due to be flying in to Austin for the F1 race as well but had to give up my ticket and spot in our gruppe due to a work conflict. Have fun out there!

Just fooled around one afternoon. Santa knows I want a GoPro
P.S. if its a cancellation, my detailed album of F1 race will be shared
I'm gonna be in T5 grandstands, row 30 or so. My # is 206 356 5620, and if you and the car are anywhere close to the track fri/sat/sun I would love to see you and the car.
I love my M5, don't get me wrong. We would need to chat about condition, arrangements, etc so everything was out in the open beforehand.

Thank you gentlemen. It's really not an easy move but I can't have more than two cars in the garage/driveway and I am ready to move to ITB world
@brannman you got a PM. I will see you in Austin.
Well its a signssf1342 wrote:Make that the third. What an absolutely gorgeous car. Too bad I don't have a proper garage to keep it in.beliq wrote:Ironically, you are the second person from Seattle to be interested in the car.

The color grew on me as soon as I saw it in person. At first I wasn't sure that I want a red car. And yes red M5s look awesome!bkbimmer wrote:Cool car, I love the red... I wish my e34 m5 was that color!

Thanks Karl.AT8M5 wrote:Everything is perfect on this machine, up to and including the wide kidneys/hood that I prefer. Would someone please hurry up and buy this before I end up putting my Wrangler up for sale.

I have always felt that the wide grill belongs to the V8. Its definitely weird to look at a wide grill '95 M5. That is one of the great debates that has troubled the mind of famous philosophers - E34 narrow or wide grille.
