That is funny Mike. I kinda like the look, but the lights on each side of the grill need the same treatment.....then the lights on the back, then all the chrome....and so it never ends does it?

Again this car is beautiful and you know me and Henna - enjoy the hell out of it!

I am wondering if you will get the bug for another E30...they are the only ones in this era that are going up in price...any luck selling those wheels yet?

VIN 1051246 was built on 1984/12/03. The VIN information that was posted earlier in the thread was for VIN 1050799 and the car "grey635" owns is VIN 1051246. As an aside, that data was pulled from an unofficial database that contains errors and MAJOR inaccuracies. Data from all of those free sites cannot be trusted and I hope BMW AG immediately blocks the port that these sites are using.

What a beautiful time capsule....amazing condition - love the color too. I came close to pulling the trigger on a '84 Henna Red bout 2 yrs ago...M88 was completely rebuilt - I mean everything by BMW Tech. Had an unusually brown interior.
It had the stripes and rare fender flares too.

I will be putting some BBS RS16x8et20 and 16x9et24 soon.
If interesting let me know - I can built to your specs.

Also I have 3 3/4? - yes 17x8.5 et13 BBS RS - missing one mesh center.

Have floor mats for your M635csi - trunk mat too.

Wow, you have excellent taste in automobiles ! And that color...Oooohh lala. All kidding aside, Henna is my fav e24 color but I am a little biased as I assume you are.
You have a true time capsule I just hope you're not afraid to rack up some miles on her. These cars are great to look at ( I sneak into the garage just to look at her) but as tSchultz is teaching me, they're best when running at high RPM to some remote destination.
Let me know you want to get rid of those old TRX wheels, 8)

For those who might be interested, I thought I'd post an update on the work I've done on the car over the past 5 weeks or so.

With the considerable help of ToddH/alpinacsi, we have completely removed all the federalization emission control stuff and an amazing amount of wiring and trunk brackets left over from an old mobile phone installed in the car. New brakes/rotors front and rear, replaced the air filter box (amazed you can still get a new one!), washer fluid tank and coolant overflow bottle. New SI board. Found a new Blaupunkt Lexington radio/cassette player on eBay that looks pretty period correct and had that installed as well. All new front grills and M-badge, with the headlight grills the shadowlined version. Lots of cleaning and general spiffing-up.

I've got the euro turn signals on hand but am waiting for a nice set of euro lights/wipers and will install all that at the same time. Also have a set of 17" BBS RS 198s undergoing restoration now and will have those on the car in the next couple of weeks, although I really do like the stock 415 metric wheels that are on the car now. But they do sort of limit the tire choices!

one thing i thought about with my near perfect 415mm wheels was to see if non metric barrels would be feasible, mine would need to be machined as they are one piece but you appear to not have that problem. barrels are expensive but the two and half grand coker wants for a set of tires is about a wash, plus you get to play with width

Looking good, Mike. I'm not sure about adding headlight wipers. They just look ugly and spoil the otherwise clean lines on the front end, IMO.

Tom: Yeah, the license plate bracket worked out just great. Much better than bending the bottom of the plate, as the PO did. Thanks for letting me have it.

Justin: Headlight wipers were on the car originally and my thought is to get the car back to as close to stock as possible. A friend has got a very nice set of euro lights w/wipers that he has offered me, so I think I'll put those on.

Winfred: I've thought about the possibility of getting the original wheels rebuilt with new rims and will probably check into that once the RS's are on the car. I love the fact that the center cap and nut on these wheels are metal, not plastic, the nut is threaded and screws on the wheel. A much superior design to the later wheels, it seems to me.

That's gorgeous. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the shadowline grilles (given the rest of the car), but it's your car!

Good choice on the 198s as they will be closer to the 007s that are on the car now.

Hey Chris. I didn't order the shadowline headlight grills specifically - just told the guys at Blunttech I needed grills for the E24 and that is what I got. I'll likely swap them out for the chrome-trimmed grills at some point but really don't think they look bad. Perhaps a bit more aggressive than the chrome grills.

I couldn't tell from your updated pics but you may want to check your headlight grills to verify they're are compatible with the headlight cleaning system. The grills should have an open section at the top of the light cavity to accommodate the wiper's arm travel. If you click on the attached photo, the zoomed image will show you what to look for.

I finally got my refinished 17" BBS RS wheels mounted on the car. At first I was a bit concerned about the polished lips but they do look pretty good with the chrome bumpers and I'm starting to get used to the "bling". This hennarot car isn't exactly subtle anyway.
