So, Shawn... What are the chances your autocorrect can extend to the pages where a similar transgression appears on RealOEM.com? ;)

"Rear axle drive" as opposed to front axle? :dunno:

Um, nope. Just emphasizing the ridiculosity of the aforementioned proposition, and piling on a little. :D

You're being dense. E28s have both front axles and rear axles. I don't know of a 4-wheel vehicle that doesn't.

The rear axle also has a "drive" component. Nothing irregular about having a section for "rear axle" which is further divided into "rear axle drive." You don't see a "front axle drive" for the E28, do you?

The irregularity is that anybody that's looking up a part on RealOEM will already know that the drive is on the rear axle of the car. Those who assembled the data on RealOEM most definitely knew that the drive is on the rear axle, so why did they choose to label it "REAR-AXLE-DRIVE" when there is obviously no "FRONT-AXLE-DRIVE"?

:poke:

No worries, Shawn; I just stumbled across that tidbit this afternoon while looking something up for my 735, & thought it was funny in light of your "rear diff" crusade. You'll do as you please in regard to the autocorrect, irreguardless of what I think. ;)

FWIW I see this "problem" in the same category as the substitution of "rim" in place of "wheel"; considering we all know what's being talked about, and the fact that publications like RealOEM use both terms when referring to the same thing, arguing about it is a bit quixotic.

Dood. Can't you read? People west of the Mississippi are suspect and can't be trusted!

Also, i agree with the consensus. Autocorrecting rear diff is a bit much. I still get bit by the "anyway s" bug.
West of the Rockies, not Mississippi.
Dudes, you're both wrong. It's south of the Mason-Dixon line!

I would like to propose that if Shawn were to invest some additional free time in anything, it should be fabricating gauge panels. Should that happen, I will gladly advocate any type of autocorrect he wants to implement.

I'm with Shawn on this one. Well - mostly just because everyone else is attacking him. Heck, he has not belittled, insulted, or even corrected me in awhile. Probably ignoring me.

SO: I do not want to know if a diff is front, rear or otherwise.

BTW – once I gotta heck of a deal on a 9 inch, 'N' case, 31 spline, Detroit locker that was being used to drive a sorghum mill with a mule up on Sandmountain in AL. Traded even for an 8 inch ford rear diff. Sorry, I mean 8 inch Ford diff. :?

Can we have an autocorrect for 'welded diff', maybe to 'small penis'?

Think of the amusement when someone comes on to announce their welded diff has broken.. :(

I called a junk yard looking for a rear axle assy for my boss's truck. This is how the convo went:

Me: I'm looking for a rear end assembly for a 2003 F150.

Junkyard guy: The back rear end?

Me: Yes...the back rear end...
