MEGASQUIRT TECHNICAL QUESTION

Post by papajetta »

guys that have it wired up already:
- did u guys wire your fuel pump through ms relay board to switch on or left it the original way?
- also did you guys leave the stock IAC valve running with motronics?

i haven't wired mine, nor do i plan on doing one on my BMW, but i think you want to give MS control of the FP relay. I beleive it needs it for crash-mode and flood-clear mode. And as it is, the FP-enable signal comes from the motronic. Were you going to retain motronic for partial control? If not, you'll need to wire up the MS so that it controls the FPRelay.

IMHO,
Have MS control the whole thing. If your going, go big. If your going fuel only, id still have the MS control idle and all fuel, even pump.

for now i wanted to make MS as portable as possible.
say if i get stuck with MS, i could just unplug the injectors from MS and have motronics run it, just a fail safe for now until i go full out fuel and spark.

I agree that you should let MS run your FP, but the IAC you can leave to motronic, especially if you want MS'nSE. Peter Florence made an adapter so he uses the original e12 harness and it plugs right into the MS box. If his setup fails, he just unplugs the MS and plugs in the L-jet unit. I don't see why you couldn't do this with Motronic also.

i was planing on keeping all sensors wired to ms seperate from the motronics ones. and just have motronics with a jumper to the injectors, and MS wih its own jumper also.

This is how I did it on my M20. I cut the leads from the motronic harness for the injectors and wired the MS inj driver wires right into them. Your would need an AFM to get motronic to work, and if you are going MS and using a MAP, then you would want that JUNK AFM out of the way, wouldn't you? That is one of the greatest advantages of the MS setup...
