Yah , I came late to the 528e and never saw the need to progress. I was into bugs back in the day. But , thanks to Scott and Vintage in the Vineyard, I met a bunch of hard core 2002 guys . They are a great bunch and a good fit with the E28ers

I know of a stalled, ground-up restoration, on a '63 ragtop, that would be perfect for you Brent

2002's were the reason I got into bmw's in the first place and I keep going back to them.
At this point I have built/owned almost countless cars and the 2002's are the ones I have the fondest memories and enjoy working on the most... I too started my car journey in the air cooled vw world and learned a lot about how to work on cars from them, at some point I will build another but it's hard to back once you get used to how much more refined bmw's are that being said I still love the bug. My first full nut and bolt restoration was my 66 sea blue bug.
Hate to date myself, but a 73tii (purchased in 74) was my first (almost) new car. I graduated from British rust buckets to an Alfa to the 02 (which I drove for 9 years). Been stuck on them ever since. Sold my last one 4 years ago. This is the longest period since 74 that I have not had at least one 02 in the garage. I like the wheels by the way.

The Bug would be MUCH cheaper and easier to get rid of when the time came.

I think it needs a black fender or a primer door or something.
I love that color.

The wet sanded door was my inspiration for the comment.

Nice.
You beat me to it. I was trying to think of something funny about this being the new trend...

He needs a tweed jacket with leather elbow patches.
I can hook you up there.

I have seen this car in person. Pictures do not do it justice. I tried to touch the paint but the perfect gloss repelled my fingers.
