Transmission question

what transmission would be a direct replacement for the Getrag 280 in the M5's? I couldnt find the answer anywhere but I know I saw it somewhere long ago. Was it the 260/6? or the 260/5? or something else?

the 260 or the 265 either will work provided you have the proper driveshaft and cross member

Thanks Steve. I may go to a parts yard this coming weekend so I wanted to know what I would be looking at incase I stumbled across a tranny. Thankfully, mine still works like a charm.
