Since I had the day off I decided to get into the M5 no-start issue. Everything was fine before I messed with the Hofmeister Kink fuel supply hose so I'm thinking, 'maybe I pinched it somehow'. Checked for fuel and it had it so I went, 'Noooooo, electrical issue!'. Swapped the main and fuel relays and nuttin'. Then I'm thinking, 'hey the CPS plugs are right above where I was working on that hose'. One of 'em had come unplugged just enough to break contact without being noticeable to the nekkid eye.
Problem solved and boy do I feel stupid. Relieved, but stupid.

I made two cuts with a cut-off wheel on the top and bottom and worked a chisel in and tryed to stretch and relieve as much tension from the nut that way. I heated it up, drenched it in repsol chain lube and it eventually spun off with a 1/2 impact.
It's easy to see why people wreck crank hubs trying to remove it. If you hold the crank hub and wrap on it with a beefy enough impact, I could see the woodruff key slot cracking or distorting.
Interestingly the crank hub was not very tight on the crank. I still needed a puller and bearing splitter, but I was thinking it was gonna be a beast to remove like the nut.
After all of that, I did get a chance to clean up the timing chain cover! Next up, inspection of chain guides etc.
I'm trying to come up with a better exhaust-side mounting bracket for the M50. The one I made last year with 1/8" angle iron is a little bent now, which I assume is a bad sign. Today I made a jig and started building another bracket with 3/16" plate and bar stock. I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible, while being sturdy enough and allowing access to all the bolts.

Yup, I only have the 2 studded snows for the rear. I thought the car looked kinda cool with them on (they were on when I first saw the car) because I've been looking for a replacement for the Style 10's. Apparently the bolt pattern is almost spot-on and the PO only had to grind out the hub bore a tad to make them fit.
