I am contemplating yanking the heads this week and taking to a local machine shop for freshening.

I am purchasing a new cam, lifters, push rods and rocker upgrade all to support a reliable 7k rev limit.

I finally am able to prioritize the e28. Hope to drop the heads off today at the machine shop.

Wow
Without the heads that looks like you have a ton of space! jeje
You'll have a better weight balance distribution, since now the engine sits almost completely behind the front wheels

I just joined this forum to comment on this build. I love it!!! I have a lot of experience with the LSx platform and I can say that a built bottom end can take 15-18 psi comfortably as long as you have the fuel to feed it and don't go too crazy with the timing.

Finally some progress. I was ready to install the heads but couldn't find the pins that locate the cyl head. Bottom end is buttoned up.

Recap:
99mm bore
82.8 mm stroke
5.1L
9.5CR Forged pistons
Cam specs image below
Stock freshly rebuilt 799 heads (LS6)
LS7 lifters
Comp Cams pushrods
Trunion kit for rocker arms

Safe 7k rev limit. Peak HP at 6500rpm, in theory anyway. Planning to run 10psi for whatever it yields.

Hey todd, this is awesome, pure motivation for me to get back at the car, except im not sure what i want to do now. i do have a couple questions though and forgive me if i missed it but what tranny are you using and what is the new engine classed as? ---- Never mind about the trans question, just saw where it said T56, not sure why but read that as the turbo the first time around.

It's a Gen 3 LS motor. Block is a 2005-2007 L33 Aluminum 5.3. Bore is 99.1108mm. Crank and rods are from a 4.8 LS

Touched it today.

Almost ready to install. Need to install the harmonic balancer and plug the oil dipstick tube in the block. I am using a dipstick in the oil pan.
