m30b35 ms2 NA tune
m30b35 ms2 NA tune
I have been sitting on this megasquirt for months waiting for the chance to install it. Since this car wont be my dd anymore, i can risk having the car not run the first time i try to start it. Im in school and simply dont have enough free time to jump the learning curve on tuning,i plan on having someone tune the car for boost but for now i just want to get the car running NA. I have a completly stock b35 and since the glens garage board isnt available im going to run a cracked throttle. Im just wondering if anyone has a base NA tune i could use, if not i guess ill just modify the available m20 map.

I'd start from scratch, get your idle solid, then drive and auto tune.

By autotune you are referring to using the live ve analyze tool right? I guess I might ass swell learn how to tune my car.

Yeah, autotune is old megatune vocabulary. Enjoy the tuning, it sure beats the old days of jetting etc.

What do the kids call it these days? Why, I remember when VE Analyze Live was the big new thing on the scene! In my day, we just had to log log log, then stop, pull over, and run analysis on it, re-burn, and go log some more!marc79euro645 wrote:Yeah, autotune is old megatune vocabulary.
Now get off my lawn!!
In all seriousness though, it's my experience that every tune is different. It seems odd when you consider that every M20 or M30 that BMW sold came with the same tune from the factory, but it just seems to shake out that way. You can start with a tune that worked flawlessly for someone else and find that it makes your car run like garbage for a variety of reasons. The key, like Marc says, is it to get the idle tuned correctly and work from there. Start with a sensible timing map and let VE Analyze Live do its job. I will tell you though that I found my results were much better and more consistent when I tuned with the car fully warmed up. As in, everything at operating temp, not just the coolant. Transmission, engine oil, etc. Plan on taking it on a long drive for your tuning sessions otherwise you might wind up chasing your tail.
