I am getting a bunch of parts powder coated and it was only incrementally more expensive for me to throw 10 or so of the remaining bare metal brackets into the job.

Thus sometime in the next week or so I will be adding a 3rd option for these brackets: Satin black powder coat. I do not yet have pictures (obviously) but will be pricing will be the same as for the Zinc plated brackets ($30 + shipping).

FWIW, I agree with Kyle that the bent flat steel may not be as strong, and hence more prone to bending, than the original c-channel. Some gusseting (?) in the area of the bends would substantially increase the strength, but of course would also substantially increase the cost.
Has anyone tried using both brackets together?
