Let me introduce another TCD-s2 car...
Well guys, I guess it's about that time. I've had the car running for a couple weeks, but not very well tuned and not being driven consistently. After finishing finals last week, I finally had the opportunity to get it going better. This week, I've driven about 1,000 hwy miles on it and successfully completed one track day (Thursday at Little Talladega). There are a few more details to be worked out, but it's pretty solid. Now that I've got it home and cleaned up, I thought I'd share some pics with you guys.
And now for the meaty stuff:
A few shots from during the install:
There are a BUNCH more pics at my CarDomain site for your viewing pleasure.
I also have in-car video from the track that is awaiting verification by Google video. I'll post that up when I have it. Also, look forward to tire-roasting-fun on film soon, because my tires are almost shot.

MS is doing well so far. And yes, I am running a Ford EDIS coil pack. In playing around with a similar system at school, the spark has proven to be very powerful.Duke M535ti wrote:Looks great, how is the MS working out for you? Can you go with coil pack with a MS?
Sorry, that's classified.Duke M535ti wrote:How much is TCD paying you to be a mobile billboard?
SPEC 3. It chattered a little when I was first getting used to it and it makes noises sometimes, but it works for me. It's also funny watching people jerk and stall the car when you let them use it.Jeremy wrote:What clutch did you go with?
Todd asked me earlier how many laps it took to get used to driving the car and I told him "none." The basic characteristics of the car aren't that different. Sure, there's a TON more power (I've never had power oversteer in 3rd before ), but it doesn't make the car some over-bearing behemoth. Power is linear and the powerband is wider than an NA car. I noticed a tiny bit of "lag" in 3rd gear off some of the slower corners, but Todd and I both agree that's probably due to the current tune--it hasn't been on a dyno yet. Now I just need some coilovers!Jeremy wrote:Any impressions from your first track day with a turbo?

It's actually painted. We've done several ourselves now. It's not that tough, though I can't remember what type of paint was used now. We've done them with wrinkle and smooth textures and both do fine. I'll see if I can get the name of what we used if you're interested.Tim in N FL wrote:Where did you get that powder coated m30 valve cover? Did you have it done yourself? I'm looking for one...

When running MS or other programable ecus you don't need an FMU... just run big injectors.Steve in No Va wrote:Okay, allow me to be more specific. The TCD S2 kit comes with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator that looks like a UFO from the old british TV series "UFO". That was what I was looking for in the photos.
Skeen,
Did you decide not to use an oil cooler on that machine of yours? I see the heat exchangers in the oil cooler's usual location, and I can't see if there's lines leading to one from your remote oil filter.
If you do have one, where'd you mount it? If you don't, why not? I'd think it'd be an important item for a turbo car on the track.

I don't have an oil cooler, basically just because I didn't have one before. I've thought about putting one on, but hadn't gotten around to it.Jeremy wrote:Skeen,
