Up for re-homing: 1994 535iT/5

Post by slammin_e28 »

So, I have a goal.

...and my collection of cars has to be knocked down to achieve goal. First on the block is the Touring.

1994 535iT/5 216k miles on body.

Started out as a 1994 525iT auto. Black on parchment. Slicktop. Headgasket was blown and trans was slipping in reverse. So I swapped in an M30B35 and G260 with M5 clutch and FW in between. 3.15 open rear end....was trying to get good hwy miles (25mpg on long trips).

Interior, swapped to leather, 1995 door cards and trim, front and rear seats. Front seats are heated, however I have a set of memory e34 sport seats, driver's seat needs recovered, passenger is alright. Heated, memory. I have the memory module, full wiring harness, mirrors, and electronic steering column with harness. 6 disc CD changer. I didn't want to loose the factory tape deck for appearances. Cargo nets on the rear seats and cargo cover for the load space. 750iL rear heated seat switched and 12v socket installed but not wired.

Staggared style 66 wheels with fresh tires.

Hatch wiring still in-tact, only function that doesn't work is the rear defrost.

Jaguar XJ tray tables installed in the backs of the front seats.

Engine: Unknown miles on engine and trans. I had this setup in my e28 and pulled it to put in the e34. Coolant, trans, PS, brake, diff fluids all fresh. Swap was done April of 2014 around 190k miles. Z3 S54 radiator. CC works. AC needs to be charged, but I've got it all ready to go.

Basically all of the suspension and steering bits were replaced 6mos before I got the car, dogbones, tie rods, ctrl arms, etc. All stock, OE replacement except for the MHE UCABs I installed when I got it. Thinker rear sway bar installed from a 540i.

Custom 3" TIGd SS exhaust. IE headers -> Magnaflow resonator -> vibrant resonator -> vibrant muffler. It's loud, but highway driving isn't bad. Does have drone when giving gas around 2k rpm, but a quick downshift kills that.

Body is not bad. Really no rust. Driver's door has some, but I have a rust free replacement to swap on. RR door has a nice dent in it, also have one to replace it. 1995 front fenders and sideskirts installed. Volvo lip up front. Car was in an accident about a year ago requiring replacement of the rad support, hood, grilles, fender, bumper, valance, etc....everything was source from a parts car of the same color. This is why it has the 1995 fenders....but I made sure to wire up the indicators with harness donated from parts car. Paint is all there. Going to have it polished/detailed. Roof has some clearcoat issues. Do have the factory roof rack. Euro bumper trim all around.

E32 750 rear brakes installed. Have the fronts, but nit installed as I was waiting on it to need pads/rotors before dicking with it.

I'd rather keep the style 66s, but for the right dollars they can go. I have the original 15" style 5s with marginal tires.

I'm sure most of you have seen the car or pics. I'll take some nice ones tonight. Here's some I have kicking around now.

Only real issue is the SRS light is on. Code for the control module. I think when the alternator overcharged before it dropped out it fried the module. I have spares. Can swap.

Headliner is drooping. Pass airbag cover is warped. E34 probs.

Starting at $6k firm.

Sounds like a good plan. However, I doubt wifey would ever let me sell our, her, Touring.

Impressive and resourceful list of mods you have there Slammin. No doubt a fun car. If it were mine I might be tempted to install my spare retracting canvas roof from my 318ti days. GLWS
