745i turbo set-up help?

Post by SheerHippo »

Hi there all,
I'm a noob to this forum and I have a question, so pardon me if it sounds stupid, and yes I tried searching already. Anyway, does anyone have a detailed parts list for the parts needed and fabricated for the 745i turbo to 535i set-up? I've noticed a couple of people are running it on here so thanks in advance.

745i exhaust manifold
longer studs to attach ex. manifold to M30 head
KKK27 turbocharger
wastegate of some sort
tap oilpan/block for oil return
custom exhaust fabbed up to turbocharger
intake piping to get air from turbo to intake manifold
bypass valve or blowoff valve
M30 engine thats fairly fresh or well maintained as to not blow it up off the bat
and anything else you need to replace along the way that breaks.

good luck.

you also need to tune your AFM to accept the new "settings" :)

If you are running an 008 ECU (533i) then you shouldnt go above ~8psi
If you got an 059 (535i) ECU then you can get larger injectors like 24# or 30# injectors and a RRFPR to up the boost to the 15psi range. An intercooler from a 745i system fits also as I have it installed in my 533i. If you have an ABS unit, you will have to find another intercooler system or delete the ABS to fit the 745i system. I would spring for a TCD W/A intercooler to get rid of the heat thats made under the bay. If you got any more Q's, throw them up and ill hopefully be able to help you or anyone else running this system.

Ok cool, will the TCD intercooler fit without removing the ABS? Thanks again!

the TCD intercooler works with or w/o ABS because it dosent install anywqhere near the ABS unit.
www.turbochargingdynamics.com for pics of the install. All Air to Air (A/A) intercoolers will need some custom piping made to work. A TCD will work with only minor mods to adapt one side of the IC to the KKK turbo, but Todd can help ya get your intercooler system done if you choose to get a W/A (Water to Air) from him.

I think for the BMW manifold, the BMW wastegate is pretty much the only option that isn't going to require fabricating a custom mount. That was my conclusion.

I see no mistake with my ECU identification  gotta love the edit button

As for the wastegate, the 745i is the only one that is going to fit normally, yes, but with all turbo systems, a little modification and any wastegate can fit.

Ask todd and he can hook you up with a TiaL wastegate and then you can have a flange made. Good luck. Check Scottie Sharpe's 745i website for more 745i parts if you need. Ebay seems to have some 745i stuff here and there.
