Pistion ring gap thoughts.

Post by Shadow »

I'm grinding my rings down using the "above 15psi turbocharged" values from the mahl website.
That will put me at 0.025 top, 0.025 second. Do you guys see this as a problem? Will I see blow by because of this?

On other sites I read that the second ring needs to be a % bigger then the first, but idk.
thoughts or experiences?

Using the JE values that puts me in the "nitrous race only" and would need to use 0.026 for the second ring.

Right out of the box these goatse rings are 0.017

I did 0.023 first and 0.027 second btw.

goatse second rings came 0.026/27 stock except for one which was .024..
Only one that had to be ground. Kinda weird. Shows you that factory clearances aren't perfect.

Another interesting thing is I measured some ring from another block I had some were .018 there was one that was .030!
the edges were folded over from probably overheating or oil starvation but I don't think there is any wear that would change the gap. idk though.
Is this thing on? Is anyone even reading this? I'll stop typing and shit. faggots. smiley face. ttyl brb bff.

Heh lol

I don't think I have ever checked ring end gap. I'd have probably broke half of them just getting them off the pistons.
