E12 turbo project

Post by Hffvdbl »

I posted a thread in eye candy about this car but I have a feeling this is the right place for this post maybe. So I pulled the Rayjay turbo off today as part of the rewiring I have to do on this car to get it going. When I pulled it this is how it looked.

Now, I'm no expert but that looks like a catastrophic failure. There was an engine fire and I'm guessing it somehow caused this.
Anyhow, the good news is that the old school BAE manifold on this car is a t4 pattern flange. Here's a side by side comparison to my TCD turbo from my e28.Image
I'll be ordering a modern T4 turbo to replace the old junk. What do you all think would work best on this size motor (stock m30b28)?

Will be great to see your progress on this one, Gary!

Maybe look at what some of what the E30 guys are using for their 2.8 stroker turbo engines?

Todd assured me that he has the perfect sized turbo for my application. More to come on this.

I'd almost stay on the small side and have 2 turbo cars that have entirely different power characteristics.
