Le seven fiddy got some MHE bushings. Best. Thing. Ever.

I've driven this car around 160 miles so far, work commute. Cruise control is sketchy. Once you get it set, it's set, but must be in the switch....have to fiddle with it a bit to set it. The radio is weird, left speakers will cut out when you hit a bump.....aftermarket head unit....so I'm scared to dig into that.

Brake lining light comes on, but brakes look fine....sensors too. Also the suspension leveling...but that's all deleted. CEL does come on at idle.....suspect vac leaks. Left rear headrest will go up by itself at some point...I think.

Shii! I'm totaling the car out now....but I guess I could have done a lot worse for $500.

HVAC works flawlessly. PS pump has been gutted as far as the SLS shit, is leak free. Factory radio is a nope.

I'm loving this thing man. Smoke tested it and have a giant vac leak in the intake boot for bank 2. Fixed that....and had another in one of the purge valve hoses (wasn't affixed to the air box like it should have been and rubbed through on the alternator)....fixed that and my intake gaskets are leaking like a mother. BUT....now my CEL hasn't been on at idle since repairing those first two issues. Also replaced a couple swollen fuel hoses.

I also de-greased the engine bay. Looks sooooo much better. Just sprayed Purple Power all over and hit it with a garden hose. Looks so much better now.

Gearing up to pop the intake manis off and do the valve cover gaskets. I can't wait!

Side note......going to PU another '89 750iL tomorrow. ^_^

It only took 5 tries, a tune up, and new exhaust, but I'm legal to drive to San Diego next month. Unlike last year, where I was sporting Nov 2014 tags... Which I finally covered with a 2016 tag last week.
Glad to hear you won't be a cop magnet this year! :)

Here the chalking is done by SDPD's 'Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol' and they mark a line on the pavement at your tire centerline and also put the date and time. It's pretty much a non issue in my current neighborhood but when I was in Ocean Beach, yes, they were parking Nazis. Cute parking Nazis but still Nazis none the less.

Kind of a shame. The interior is llama in pretty good condition. Problem is mold and lots of it
It was what you might call a field find. The tires had sunk 6" into the mud… yuck.

Programmed the replacement remote switchblade key to the e34 after the original broke. Got it first go, which is unusual. Last time it took about half an hour. Small victory.

Last night Paul and I removed the rear bumper on the ten-to-eight to try to push the shock back out. Porta power was a no-go....that shock it stuck. Reason for the effort is the rear muffler rubbed on the bumper along the side, and was sagging. After removing the bumper the muffler hangers are really easy to replace.....one was stretched to within an inch of it's life...and the metal clamp was backwards. The other muffler hanger had been replace with a large hose clamp. Two new, supple hangers later and the muffler is now nice and snug where it should be. I loveeeee 750iL muffler tips.

The shock wouldn't push back out, so gave up on that and reassembled. The replaced the left rear side marker light bulb. Small victories.

Drove the thing to work this morning in the snow. It is a BEAST. Paul lent me his old snow tires when I picked the car up, and they have remained on the car. With the Rover broken, the 750 is my winter car.

I love this thing.

Now to get the windshield washers sorted. They no-worky at all.

Yeah Jeff, I agree with MicahO, great pic.

Cap everything but the windshield washers, but don't stress the pump when you do it. Forget the headlight crap. /problem.

Glad to see it out. I call mine the snow beast.

Hehe, thanks guys!

I've got new windshield sprayers on the way....mine just fell apart. Also have a ton of new sprayer line in hand. The system is so weird. It has the res down under the right headlamp, then a hose with a quick disconnect from the upper res to the lower one....then a hose to bleed air up the other side. The quick disconnect was disconnected, and the hose was routed wrong....also was hard and leaking at the crimp clamps. I heated the ends with a lighter and re-clamped them with screw clamps. No more leaks. I had to rogue a sprayer from an e34 for the driver's side of the 7, then bypass the passenger side one....just so I had something top drive home with and clean the salt off.

Speedometer decided to be intermittent....which meant the wipers only wanted to work on intermittent or full blast. Is the sensor connection at the diff....I can mess with it and it works for a while.

Replaced some bulbs in the cluster....now I can see how much gas it's sucking down at night. Also know that my fog lights are on.

Damn thing had developed misfires. The distributor caps were original....1988....and the button was just totally worn away. I swapped one with a used spare I had from a 1991 850i, the other got an e30 cap from 1986. Rotors looked like they had been replaced....but I should swap them too. I did fix up the fuel vapor system. It was all disconnected and capped off, by me, because the hoses were all brittle and broken off. Fixed now. Still misfired. Light load....interstate speeds, 70-80 it's the worst. Especially when you hit a hill and have to tip in on the gas. Sport mode raises the revs and the misfiring isn't noticeable. Plugs were done like 2k miles ago by a shop in Richmond. Also fuel filters and pumps. Have that documentation via a friend who works there. So, I'm leaning towards wires, cap, and rotor replacement. Gonna get spendy....

Rodney, you know I HAVE to have all the features working...including the fog lamp washers. I'm masochistic like that.

Yes, you are masochistic. I like to eliminate as much un-necessary complexity as possible. I would have scrapped the LAD on the back of mine when the lines had issues but that was one my shop did and they weren't into the delete kit, which I get. Scrap the power rear seat, etc.

I still need my sunroof if possible. I do love me a sunroof.

I'd love to not have the sunroof....I have a small collection of slicktops.

I deleted the LAD stuff....but it's reversible. I got some standard shocks from a e32 in the yard. One day I may reseal my LAD shocks and re-install.

For now I'm trying to get the misfires taken care of....and the windshield washers.....

Driver's heated seat seems to work when it wants to....need to look into that too. It's nice during these cold winter months....

Are the misfires throwing a code? You know those ECUs can hold onto codes even if the light isn't on.

Do the 5x gas pedal trick and see what happens. It can at least give you a bank/cyl error to focus your efforts. Your rotor/cap theory makes sense.

Finally got reman calipers for the barge. I'm slowing working through the main issues. I think ANSA is actually making a muffler for it, according to Bekker. So, painted and installed calipers and washed it today. Finally it has real brakes. The front weren't doing anything before. 5 out of 8 pistons were rusted stuck and the seals emptied the fluid.

The 3 unstuck pistons.

Pulled the carpet slightly up to find a puddle under my pedal cluster. Propped up the carpet with a plastic box and have begun heat gun dry out process. About 10-15 minutes an evening, hopefully by the weekend it will be dry.

Ordered two new aftermarket window regulators, my weekend sounds fun. I'll finally get to installing the rear door blinds at least.

Also ordering a heater valve, I wish BMA's mobile site didn't suck so much though, it's actually super frustrating.

Still won't have cruise or a sunroof for San Diego, but it could always be worse.

More e23 punch list items. Resealed tail lights, did the hvac push button fix, installed new alternator bushings and lubed the blower motor.

Can't wait to get a muffler on it, so it doesn't sound like a bracket racing Camaro.
