supercharging
supercharging
Any of you guy's and gal's ever super charged a m30? Spoke to tcd and the kit won't fit rhd and the only turbo kit in the uk only gives 280bhp (£5000 for 60bhp seems a bit on the pricey side to me). Been talking to fritz's bitz and he's advised a rse centrifugal internal compression supercharger would be my best bet, lowering the compression with an ali plate. Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you go to that site or www.bimmerforums.com in the forced induction group and look up bmwandreas you should be able to pm him on what options you have...
Hope that helps..
and his msn Im is aa@pure-pf.com

You can use the procharger P-1SC with the TCD ecu chip. With stock internals you can boost up to 14psi.

An intercooler would be better and if you lower the compression to 8.0:1 you can boost more. If you have the one with cat converter you don't have to lower your compression, because it's already 8.0:1.An option is to replace the stock pistons for JE forged pistons.
I have a supercharger set up that cost me $4500 and the internals cost me $2000.

im also in the uk and am considering these options. plenty of people have done RHD turbo e30's with the m20 engine. the problem is locating the turbo and routing the exhausts i beleive?
if your handy with fabrication, then you could manufacture/modify a manifold so that the turbo is on top of it roughly in line with cylinder 2, then route the exhaust immediately down then tuck it up under the standard manifold and hugging along the block down the gap next to the steering box.
for inlet it should be easy, then you could route the output of the compressed air to the front for a FMIC at the side of the car then back up again past the distributor and over the cam cover.
oil feed wud be simple enough.
am i missing something? please someone stop my thoughts with some kind of fact. maybe bonnet clearance would become an issue but probably would fit.

It's definitely possible if you can fabricate. It just takes skills and time. The original poster seemed to be looking for something a little more bolt-on, which is why the discussion went in the direction it did.originalMJG wrote:im also in the uk and am considering these options. plenty of people have done RHD turbo e30's with the m20 engine. the problem is locating the turbo and routing the exhausts i beleive?

any more pics of the engine bay there m635csi? looks good as ive seen the TCD kits using the chargecooler which is something i would rather avoid for simplicity and potential power gains. is that a 745i? it looks very "oem".
preferably any pics from the other side? ive seen a picture of an s50? turbo in an e30 which is the general layout i was considering for the turbo. it was black, with LARGE front mount intercooler and big turbo sitting high.
skeen - yeah i understand the bolt-on idea but was just tossing ideas around that i had in my head

Bavariacars Motorsport (I believe) did that turbo installation in a customer's car. They've also done at least one right hand drive E28 M535 with the same layout and front mounted intercooler. I seem to recall they used a Mitsubishi turbocharger with an internal wastegate. There are more images but they won't be available until my new server is online.originalMJG wrote:any more pics of the engine bay there m635csi? looks good as ive seen the TCD kits using the chargecooler which is something i would rather avoid for simplicity and potential power gains. is that a 745i? it looks very "oem".

I own the issue that car was in - it got me really interested in turbocharging, at the time I had my E12 520i, same basic engine! The memories.... *sniffle*
