How do you like tcd's turbo's?
I know TCD has a good reputation, and I am a new owner of a 'kit' that entails most of everything tcd sells, including a stage 3 turbo. It has a 60 trim comp wheel, stage 5 turbine, .58 exhaust housing. Manufactured by comp turbo. Their website looks good, promising close to 99% efficiency. They do admit that their company is semi new, but also say they have 50 years of experience.
I am just wondering what type of quality I should expect. How long will it last, and are these easily rebuilt if it get's worn out. Also, what do the spec's mean as far as 60 trim, and stage 5 turbine, etc.

Garret cores will last longer than anything else readily available on the market. Longer than Holset, Borg Warner, Mitsu and so on. I base part of this partially on thousanrds of personal hours on the dyno as well as the experience of the guys I work with.
I personally would not put anything other than a genuine Garrett on my own car. I get paid to make forced induction parts if that offers any perspective and use a wide variety of crap depending on what the customer wants.
Life expectancy should be in the 10's of thousands of miles. Oil changes, air filter cleaning and general up keep all play a factor. Keep in mind that you are (will?) be using a journal bearing turbo so pay close attention to your oil as it both cools and lubricates the rotating assembly.
Todd can have whatever turbo you own rebuilt. As can most turbo shops (though most of these are heavily diesel so lead time may increase). Garret operates on a core basis. You send them your old one and get a new one in return.
Please do more reading on A/R, Trim and Turbine size.

i second the garrett only when it comes to non "stock location turbos" (mitsubishi's are pretty reliable for that) i knew someone that had two comp turbo failures within a couple of thousand of miles. that's the only thing that i know about them. i don't really know much more info about the car with the failures either. i know it is a very clean supra running something very large at low boost. (20 psi or so)
i put over 30k on a garrett bb before i sold the car.
.58 seems like a small turbine housing for that big turbine wheel. is that what people are usually running?

I was wondering if there was a compressor map available for this turbo?
I haven't been able to find it but want to calculate where I am at with my altitude and boost levels in terms of compressor efficiency.

The key is understanding the volumetric efficiency of your engine. You need to dyno it to determine that. A simple way to determine compressor efficiency is intake manifold temps at WOT at peak HP rpm.

So far I am happy with the turbo, no plans to change it, but I want to know what efficiency island I am touching at 150kpa.

I get the garrett thing, I'm running a Precision, no issues with it yet.
Your should be the Comp5558, I had found this and posted it on the bigcoupe thread. I said yours was the comp 6062 but I'm pretty sure its the 5558tschultz wrote:Thanks Todd.

So it looks like aside form the covering (mine has the 4 inch anti surge cover) the compressors are pretty close.
