Thank you Demetk for the work, and foamy for the work too. Foamy did all the heavy lifting with the measurements and prototype. He does need to be "reprimanded" for such a heinous deed. How can I tip the inventor?
Welcome. Heavy lifting? Hardly, the thing only weighs about 4 oz. :)

I'd be interested in one, no need to paint, I can do that here.

Has a final price been determined?

Unpainted version will be $30 and the painted version will be $37. The price will include US shipping, paypal fees and a small profit for foamy.

Unpainted versions should be available next week.

I'll let you know on paypal address when I have them in my hands. The sample was supposed to have been made last Friday but they got delayed. I'll contact the shop today for a status update. Once I get the sample I need to test fit it to make sure it fits.

I guess there is some interest. :)

The sample is ready to be inspected but the only chance I'll get will be Friday morning. I'm going to take the e28 and test fit it right there.

Unless there are strong opinions on having that third hole made, I'm going to leave it alone. So let me know.

I would really like one WITHOUT the third hole as then I don't need to find the damn block off plate which is $30+ on its own now. :?

Almost there. I discussed it with the shop today and they will make a couple of adjustments and make the holes. One thing I didn't think of testing is the fitment of the switch in the 18 gauge steel and whether the locking tabs on the switch will grab properly. I'll need them to send me the final version and test that.

Apologies for the delay but I had visitors last week and didn't do anything. I have the sample in hand. Just need to try it out.

Marked and drilled the holes and the sample fits nicely. But at 18 gauge steel, it's too thin and the switches flop around because the locking tabs on the switches don't make contact. I'll probably have to make it out of something thicker like maybe aluminum. Thoughts?

Machined from billet aluminum would probably be great, but surely significantly more costly than a die cut sheet metal component.

Thanks. I'll call the shop tomorrow and talk to them about options. I'm assuming you can still laser cut aluminum?

What about doing a wrinkle powder coat? I understand it will raise prices a bit, but it will mimic the original part better and will also increase the material thickness. Also, it will be supremely durable. I'd want to do that with mine, but economies of scale and whatnot...

Thicker aluminum would be ideal. Match the thickness of where the switch tabs grab. Advantage, it won't rust and it will be lighter and easier to work than thick steel. Yes, you can laser cut aluminum.
