Thermostat

Post by Shadow »

Just wondering if you guys are using the 80c thermostat and if you see any overheating at all?
if so did the 76c or whatever stat fix it.

Reason I ask is when i'm boosting hard it goes up to like 210f straight flat out boosting for miles.
Normally like 180f.

71°c / 160°for thermostat

I get to about 190°f during really hard driving. I dont believe its ever gotten hotter than that in 10+ years of being boosted. Typically both my VDO gauge and MS unit show running temp at 170-175°f.

I see 195 in hot idle condition and think my fan clutch may be on its way out at low rpm.

During boost, I eon't know that I really exceed 190F. Stock thermostat

I had issues. New radiator, clutch, and everything. I think I had the 76degC version. I needed more rad or to switch to an electric fan due to the air conditioning actually being functional. When I got stuck in traffic on hot days, it'd get very hot. Normal driving was fine.
