Do you think an in tank pump feeding directly into the dual Bosch 044's would work also? Do you have a picture of your swirl tank setup?Jelmer538i wrote:Yes, we use a new OEM in tank pump that pumps the E85 to a swirl tank which feeds 2 Bosch 044's.

The swirl tank was a good idea to address hard cornering fuel starvation at < half tank. However, you're doing yourself no favors by using the OE in-tank lift pump (externally?) then dividing the line (apparently same ID) to the two 044's. Most likely the lift pump (Walbro?) is only adding restriction since the 044's can only flow what whatever fuel the lift pump provides, like trying to pull fluid through a clogged filter. Better to ditch the lift pump and increase the ID of all your fuel lines. Looks like you're using full-flow fittings, which is definitely helping with flow. With a single 044 rated with sufficient capacity to feed 600-700hp you likely aren't as yet pushing those limits. What filtering are you using?

Re: E28 537i on the hub-dyno
After a busy time this E28 gets some attention again. The DTA engine managment is going out because it is very complex and very, very hard to get tuned properly. A Microsquirt is going to do the job now, because the tuner has alot of experience with these. He also puts a bio ethanol sensor in it so we can run regular gas and bio Ethanol. The boost controller is already installed. When everythings is ready I'll make some pictures and a vid.

A new headgasket (actualy it's piramid ringed now) and a bio ethanol sensor and now it makes these numbers:
650Hp and 833lb/ft
Dyno print will follow.

Re: E28 537i-24v Turbo
are you using a twin cam head on an m30b34 block?
Re: E28 537i-24v Turbo
That is a Big Fucking Turbo. I approve. Looking forward to a dyno to see what the power curve looks like.

A lot of europeans like to do this since it's cheaper than a S38 block.

I thought there was a difference in the front timing covers that would not allow them swap.

Re: E28 537i-24v Turbo
@Marc: Yes, no problem bolting it on. Only some minor difference like the oil return from the head and the chain guide pin.
@George: the turbo can support 1000+ horsepower so that is our goal.
@Nebraska: I'm not sure on the old setup.
The current 6 speed Getrag 420 will be swapped for a ZF gs6-53dz gearbox because these are strong, cheap and readly available.
The Getrag will be for sale.

In for more. :Wow:
Re: E28 537i-24v Turbo
This is really cool. How will you adapt the ZF gs6-53dz gearbox to mate to the s38?

We will weld a new bellhousing on it after both are machined.

I was wondering about this, looks good!

Re: E28 537i-24v Turbo
Almost there! Right now we are working on the 4" exhaust and the 3" turbo --> intercooler --> intake tubing.
