Oil setup for TCD

Just curious to the experienced guru's out there. As I am a mere few weeks out from ordering a kit from Todd @ TCD. I am curious if this is something feasible. My plan is to eliminate the existing oil can, attach:

To an in line oil filter, to turbo, through an oil cooler back to return. I'm worried (not justified)about a pressure drop to line resistance. I'm hoping the experts can help me out as I have bugged todd enough!

I'm curious to hear why-- seems pricey when you could spend maybe $200 on a stock cooler. I'm just not sure it offers much of a benefit. Just to add an oil cooler? Would it be open all the time or would you have an oil cooler?thermostat?

Where do I find said 200$ oil cooler, let alone with housing. What I am gathering from you, the oil cooler is redundant than?

This is the only housing I've found, let alone the radiator and fittings.

Have you looked here? Have the lines made to proper length and mount the cooler however you see fit.

That housing will fit? I'm rocking a b32 (unfortuanately).

As well, did I see a thread about a guy threading his own housing? I've tried searching. I remember seeing it roughly a year ago-ish

Yes a B35 housing will fit.

I'm unsure an oil cooler is really necessary. Perhaps nice to have after you've justified the need. I'd estimate around 20k on my TCD setup with no issues, just tapped the stock housing. Adding an inline filter would be nice if using the stock b34 filter housing. Main thing I'd guess regular oil changes is even more important.

I'd say build it & then upgrade when needed. Unless you have the time/patience/necessity for upgrades during the build.

Did you add an inline filter to yours LJ? Or just keep up with regular changes.

Regular oil changes. More motivation to keep things clean! If you want m106 housing I have a few.

I just got done replacing the turbo on my TCD setup which was built about 10 years ago. Had to replace due to oil spewing out exhaust, not just smoke but oil spitting out... I have done a couple track days with this setup since I bought it 2 years ago. I did notice some increased temps on the track so I tended to cut my sessions short and I think the high temp issue contributed to the failure of the seals and bearings in the turbo. So my next step before I get the car back on track is to install the b35 oil cooler setup and see how that performs.

Thanks for the feedback. Interested to know if temperatures were indeed a factor, or if a rebuild should've been done due to age of original build and or mileage on said system.
