Can't control boost!!??!!!????

Post by 5timesturbo »

I have a external wastegate. The bottom part gets its signal from the manifold. I've got the top part getting it's signal from the manifold as well but I've got a manual boost controller in that line. The wastegate has a 7lbs spring. However it's not regulating my boost pressure. I wanna know if I've got the wastegate connected wrong. If anyone can give me some insight on what's wrong....I'd appreciate it much and when u get to Georgia....beers on me!!! Lol.
Thank you much.

Change the spring and get rid of the manual boost controller.

hey.

i dont even know how to begin here maybe i'm having a bad day
use the MBC on the bottom port so it actually can lift up on the diaphragm and open the valve.
leave top vented so it can work right. hope that helps.

On my 745 setup the hose comes right off the compressor (ahead of the throttle ) to the mbc, then to the wastegate, where the high pressure helps to open the wastegate. If you have hose barbs on both sides of diaphram, take hose from ahead of throttle to the side that opens gate, vent the other side.

I looked up online and this is the way they suggested hooking up the wastegate. Worked perfectly. My question is.....why did the directions tell me to hook it up the way I had it connected earlier?????

Thank you all....I appreciate it

link to directions?

i've never seen someone hook a mbc the way you described
both sides of the diaphragm hooked to the same location would equalize pressure and not let it move.
might as well leave it disconnected.

Maybe I read them wrong.....I threw away the paper. I do know for sure that it instructed me to use BOTH connections. I've also seen similar instructions when using a MBC but I'm sure I prolly connect it incorrectly in there somewhere.
