Long story short I'm considering purchasing a set of BMW basketbbweaves. They are 16'' 5x120, not sure of the hub diameter at this current time. I am just wondering if they are in fact 72.5mm will they mate up perfectly without the need for a "hub bore adapter ring". Just an FYI personally I think they're off a later 5 or 7 series. Maybe e32 or e34? I've attached the link of the for sale ad and a link to another mye28 post that looks to have the exact same wheels.

Re: Will these unknown bmw wheels fit my e28?
At first I thought they were the 16X8 E32 wheels that many like. But with a tire size of 195/60-15 that doesn't seem right, I suspect the offset is off. The tire seems 15, not 16. They don't seem like an E39 wheel, which is the oddball hub size, but I wonder if they're not E30/E36 wheels being 15" You need to get behind the center cap and see what the offset is. E28 should be ~ET20. E36+ will be ~ET46.

The posted links show normal 15” e34/e32 style 5 wheels. These will fit non-M5, standard brakes e28s just fine and are hub centric. The only downside is lack of performance tire choices.

Agreed, with one side note:dsmith wrote:The posted links show normal 15” e34/e32 style 5 wheels. These will fit non-M5, standard brakes e28s just fine and are hub centric. The only downside is lack of performance tire choices.
These wheels will fit fine with M5 brakes on a non-M E28 depending on the brand of manufacturer. I'd have to check my stash to make sure which will and which won't.

Re: Will these unknown bmw wheels fit my e28?
Well thanks everyone for the reply's. The seller never ended up responding so I just left it at that. I did however snatch up a set of E38 740i 16x8 ET23 Basketweaves. I will link a picture below, hopefully it works. I got them for $160 CAD. They do have some curb rash but overall I'm happy with the price I payed. Could anyone recommend a set of good, preferably cheaper tires that will fit without rubbing/ the need for spacers. From the reading I've done I'm looking for a set of 225/50/16? And looking at the E28 Wheel and Tire Tutorial a set of Kumho Super Ectsa 225/50 will fit both front and rear without rubbing? Any other recommendations as I don't think those specific tires are in production anymore, I can only find "Ecsta's"?

Good choice and good price, I got lucky with my first 4 and paid less but the next 5 I've spent more on. I use these as my track wheels with 225/50R16 Hankook RS-4 on them but I wouldn't recommend those for a street car. If you go with that size you will most likely need at least a 5 mm spacer on the front to clear the strut (I run a 10 mm). You can slightly stretch a 205/55R16 and that should clear (but that can be tire dependent too). I was able to clear the Firestone Firehahk Indy 500 on the front in a 205/55R16 on those wheels which is a great performance summer tire that won't let you down if you want to try an Autocross or track day, they're good in the wet too.
I've bought my last few sets of tires through PMC tire in Quebec who offer free shipping across the country - https://pmctire.com/en/tires/firestone/ ... 6-91w.tire
4tires.ca out of Quebec is $10 less per tire but no free shipping to Alberta so they'll probably end up slightly more expensive than PMC - https://www.4tires.ca/tires/firestone-f ... -r16/10048
There's a $75 mail-in rebate too!

Thanks Adam those are just the type of tires I'm looking for in the right price range too, I think I'll go for them. Just wondering they'll still look relatively normal even with the stretched tires? And sorry for the stupid question, that mail in rebate is after the purchase and its essentially a Firestone gift card I use at a later date/ purchase?adam_poll wrote:Good choice and good price, I got lucky with my first 4 and paid less but the next 5 I've spent more on. Re: Will these unknown bmw wheels fit my e28?
205 mm is 8.0 inches so it really isn't unreasonable, it definitely won't be like a "stanced" car with super narrow tires on really wide wheels with the rim lips hanging out. The clearance will be tight on the strut tower but in my experience it cleared on these wheels and tires back in 2017. I actually have a couple of pictures of the car with these tires on these wheels, the front is the 205/55r16 and the rear is a 225/50r16, here's a dropbox link to the pics - https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b61cy9f2saqt ... I'm not sure how the mail in rebate works but it is after the purchase.
