Non-Affiliated For Sale Thread May-June 2020
Not too many 80's bimmers for sale this month. I figured everyone would try to get some cushion money from the pandemic.

Hmm. E12. BTDT. It was my suggestion that Peter Bohr change his focus in the old Road&Track series of "Affordable Classics" to the 528i. I gave him the idea that BMW took one of their worst, ever, failures—the NA version 530i—and with the stroke of a catalytic converter made it into one of their most dependable models, ever.
He was originally asking me what I thought of the E21 for the series. I told him "Crush it!"

Looks like a solid driver or resto project. Since we're on the topic of e12, here's a unicorn if I ever saw one:

You just can't go wrong with e28 it looks so sharp!
Re: Non-Affiliated For Sale Thread May-June 2020
Well, here's a hot mess in Miami! Shame to waste that motor in that body. Apparently the Alpina deko set is supposed to make up for the car's shortcomings:

OK..ditch the alpina graphics...what's it worth? still seems like a pretty badass car.
Re: Non-Affiliated For Sale Thread May-June 2020
Well, let's see. Crappy interior. Dash cap. Headliner shredding around the C pillar. Fog lights mounted with sheet metal screws (probably). Euro front bumper/M-Tech on the rear (wonder what's under that). TMU (trip odo = 0000). Seller has no idea how to mount the Throwing Star covers. Just based on a very quick glance at the photos. Lord only knows what a close inspection would reveal. I'm sure the paint work is top-shelf. Maybe $15K on a good day?

So many people running around with wild expectations on the values of their cars. I laugh when I see E39 M5 ads with statements of "this car will keep appreciating" even though they keep lowering the price to move it. These are weird times.bunty wrote: May 26, 2020 1:21 PM NA

Re: Non-Affiliated For Sale Thread May-June 2020
there is this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-BMW-5-Series/153954015817
i am one of the 20+ following the ebay auction. it is appealing to me because it it is in driving distance and my present e28 has the usual issues with 330,000 miles and the midwest enviroment (rust).
i don't think the seller is here...
i would miss the manual and the big six but i would still drive an e28....
(wife says no, but it looks like cheap fun).

Was this e to i conversion documented here on the forum? If so, I must have missed it. Looks to be turn key and ready to drive. Fast.

Here's a zinno 535is on BAT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1987-bmw-535is-28/
Is seller on the board? At first glance, the car looks better on the underside than the topside. Not feeling the shadowlined treatment, and some of the interior looks a little too shiny, but it is obvious that lots of love (and effort) went into this one.

Nothing wrong with the shadowline other than the kidneys. That ruins it.
Pics illustrate how 2-stage modern Zinno just isn't as good a color as original. Too dark.
Vlad was in worse shape when I bought it.

Re: Non-Affiliated For Sale Thread May-June 2020
Hey Charlie! My reference to "not feeling the shadowline" on this car was certainly no reflection on Vlad - which remains one of my top 10 favorites here on the board. This seller should have, as you note on the BAT listing, left the kidney grill and trunk badge alone and put on some euro bumpers. Now THAT would be a proper e28. (I think I just described Vlad!!)
