Duke, wayy OT, but question. You don't happen to own a euro E12 m535i also, would you? The owner of AutoFab motorsports was telling me he used to have an E12 M535i, and I mentioned you had a beautiful boosted E28 M535i, and he said your name ringed a bell, and he thinks you may be the one who now owns his car? IDK whe he had this car, he was a former employee of Dave Harrison, and I guess he had the car before he worked for harrison. Just curious if you know anything about this car. Thanks.
Nope, not me. I can only afford one M535i at a time.kendogg1 wrote:Duke, wayy OT, but question. You don't happen to own a euro E12 m535i also, would you? Duke,
I think you should shop around some more and check out what Snow Performnace has to offer. IMO, the Aquamist system appears to be a one size fits all type of solution. Snow Performance has a wide range of products that allow you to build a H2O / Methanol injection system on a budget or go whole hog.
Just my $.02.

It appears that the Snow Perf stuff is not a pulsed water system. Injecting the water/meth coolant in a pulsed fashion controlled by the inj DC seems to make a large difference in how the system actually cools temps and helps fuel enrichment. Thats to say just injecting water at a set point plays havoc with AFRs and is not as effective as a pulsed coolant system. The gents over at BFC can vouch for this. Many have has issues with the non-pulsed systems and made more power with the pulsed systems.Rich Euro M5 wrote:Duke,

While it may, it cant do what I just stated above. Sure it can turn on a water/meth inj system at a specified pressure, but it can't do what the AM 2D does. Its a matter of how far you want to go with coolant injection. AT nearly $950US, it better work pretty good.Sweeney wrote:Duke, isn't your TEC3 capable of operating auxiliary devises?

Yes, I am looking at a AM system that will work with the Tec3 to deliver variable amounts of water/alcohol dependent on load, RPM and amount of boost. Not sure if the Tec3 will produce a variable voltage output for the parameters I want.Sweeney wrote:Duke, isn't your TEC3 capable of operating auxiliary devises?
Rich,
Thanks for the link. Looking at the systems that they provide, they seem rather crude compared to the AM. Of course they are 1/2 the cost. You know, the Army is paying me $3 a day per diem while here. That will come close to paying for an AM system and a EBC. Once those are installed, she will be ready for the dyno for Tec3, AM and increase boost tuning. Now, to sell all this to Caludia……………..hummmmmmmmmmmmmm.
After checking in the Tec3 manual and emailing Electromotive, I have my answer. The Tec3 will control the water/alcohol injection. A 16X16 table will be used to make the map for the injection. Will use MAP sensor (load/boost) vs RPM for input and will have the variable injection from 12-20+ PSI. Will work like a charm.
I will be going with the Aquamist 2C system which is designed to work with aftermarket ECUs.
Underdog Racing Development has the kit for $699. Expensive, yes. The pump alone costs over $500. But when I am running flat out at 4000 rpm pushing 20 PSI, I will not worry about my water/alcohol injection pump not being able to deliver 150 psi to properly atomize the fluid mix.

I wouldn't call it less efficient, but yes, it does have a lower volumetric energy density so you have to use more to make the same power. You also need a flex fuel sensor. MS does this.

Yesterday I was surfing Bimmerforums.com for any info on an Aquamist 2C system. I ran across a recent thread of a guy selling a new in the box 2C with some bonus items. I emailed him and walla!, I now own a new Aquamist 2C with two accumulators and a custom pump mounting bracket.
All for $425 shipped!!! That is about 50% of the vendor price. I used a debit/credit card and paypal to pay him just in case the transaction goes south. He is a very active board member so I am hoping for the best.
So the 2C will use inputs form my TEC3 to deliver variable water/alcohol injection depending on RPM and MAP signal. Just the added protection I want for my really new rebuilt motor.
I will be using the windshield washer bottle to supply the fluid. What is way cool about that is, will get and indication when the fluid need filling. It is all coming together now.
See you at 20 psi! .............who knows, maybe 20+ psi.

Have you given any thought to how (or if) you will go about removing the water from the oil?

AquaMist & 059
Can the 059 drive the AM systems appropriately?

You will have to buy a Aquamist 2D which has its own injection maps or a stand alone ECU.
