Good afternoon all,
so, I bought a e34 M5 a few years back. Along with all the parts included with the car I also got a few crates that wrote "spare" engine.
As I opened the crates I saw the valve cover and Vin tag on the block and discovered that the engine was off a e24 M6. Block reads B35.
So, I contacted the previous owner and he had mentioned that he bought the motor intact and was planning to build a "turbo motor".
Long story short, everything is here from what I see, but I have also noticed some scoring on the cylinder walls.
My current idea is to build a "cost effective" stroker motor, because its a shame for a motor like this to be in pieces.
My friend is an experienced engine builder (first time building an s38 though) and Im basically gathering the parts and he will do all the technical work.
I am not a mechanic and would appreciate all the info i can get. I have searched for info on the forums but I have not seen a forum that is straight forward with what is needed to build a stroker motor without buying a kit for 8k or 10k.
Besides the head work and block polishing what parts do i need to buy?
Do you buy pistons from miller and a m30 crank and double valve springs? Is this a 3.9 stroker?
Do you use stock rods?
Do you use a s38b36 crank or stock?
Im leaning towards a 3.9 stroker. Is this doable?
so many questions lol
Anything will help.
Thanks!
