St. Paddy’s Day 2022 is...happening in San Diego!

Post by wkohler »

After a couple years of sadness, it’s official there WILL be a St. Paddy’s Day event in San Diego this year. I’ll save all the usual explanations for now just to make sure everyone knows it is going to happen.

Date: March 19, 2022

How is it going to work?

It will start out like usual on Saturday. We will be at the boat ramp parking lot at Mission Bay. (Exit Claremont Dr from I-5 and head west, then make a right on Mission Bay Dr and you’ll see it). We will all hang out for a while with our cars and then once we have either had enough of that or we get kicked out (usually the latter), we will head out, but that’s not the end!

Where will we go after that?

Carl Nelson and La Jolla Independent will be hosting the Saturday party at the shop in La Jolla. They are no strangers to putting on a great event so it should be great. There will be some great food as well.

What about Friday?

We will see. Let’s just say TBD.

As we get more information I’ll add it to the post. Hope to see everyone March 19!

You mean I might actually see you TWICE in one year? I can't take the excitement!!! I better brush up on my grammar.

Hmmm wonder if I should come by a day or two early and have Carl work on the E23 in prep for Vintage...

No, you don't. Just stay away and we wont look for you.

Anyone find any lodging suggestions without breaking the bank? My standby Ramada doesn't seem to have anything.

No, but I'm having a fire sale on 2020 and whatever is left of the 2019 shirt piles.
I am pretty sure some of the other past T-shirt hucksters have leftover stashes; maybe I can convince them to bring them also. We can make it a clearance sale of sorts.

I’m actually wearing my 2020 shirt today. Darin, Ivo and I actually did hang out together that day so it technically happened

Ah, the difficulties of humor on the internet. While I didn't realize you were the host, my reply to you was in jest anyway. Sorry if it came off snarky, it wasn't intended that way.

Nothing much new to add other than a 3 week bump to the event.
Looking VERY forward to reconnecting with a lot of folks down in (hopefully) sunny and warm San Diego.

It may be the first time in a long time that I'm not scrambling to finish a project on the M535i before this event (I must be doing something wrong...)
How is everyone else doing with their cars?

Nothing so far. I think it's going to be a loose catch-as-catch-can kind of thing.
Maybe we can all meet up at some restaurant somewhere and hang (until they kick us out :D )

Damn Alternator is acting up! I'm pulling that today and hoping I can figure something out, I'll push the damn car to the beach if I have to!!

Other than that got myself some nice Cocomats in black wool, (gotta say they're the BEST and worth every penny!) to complement my new (old) carpet I pulled from the yard a bit ago... (and yes Ricky, I huffed and puffed and I finally got the bugger out in one piece!!)

Looking forward to seeing all the nice rides and peeps!

Cheers!

OMG!!! :wrenchtime: I thought I’d have nothing to do this week but clean the car but NOO, I totally won the junk yard LOTTERY and scored a set of Alpina OEM wheels from “Pick-ur-Part” last Saturday. The “Heat is on” to get them cleaned, powder coated, installed etc., etc…Way too stressful I need a drink!! Is it St. Paddy’s day yet?

That's still up in the air a bit; both time and place. A few of us need to head to La Jolla Independent to help get ready in the afternoon, so we don't know the timing of all that yet.
I did start thinking of a gathering place for early evening/night and was thinking this place:
Common Theory Public House
https://www.commontheorysd.com/
4805 Convoy Street
San Diego, CA 92111

But nothing is finalized yet.

I thought that got burned in a late night sacrifice that weekend.

I'll put it on my list to pick up. Thanks.
