Hi guys. I am self tuning my 9:1 compression forged piston/ MLS head gasket/ head studs M30B35 which has a T04E turbo controlled to 16 psi right now. This timing table is an amalgamation of a couple tables from similar builds. This is a 5 speed manual e23 with 3.06 gears.
Does anyone who has an M30 running around my boost level have any opinions if anything looks out of whack? Is it normal for the timing under high boost to have that dip in it in the 3500-4500 range? I did not configure those #s, a friend did that. Also does the amount of timing in the 17 psi row look normal? I saw someone with an M30 running 20 degrees of timing and someone running less timing than I am, so I have no idea what is normal for a combo like this. I know it would be nice to have knock sensing so I could make tweaks and log it and look for knock counts, but I don't have that.
Thanks
Steve

What octane fuel are you using?
Are you using an intercooler?

I would stick with the table you posted until you can tune on a dyno.

Re: My M30B35 turbo timing table. Look OK?
Here's mine. I'm tuning with a knocksense light that blinds me when it detects knock. I'm using 91 octane non ethanol gas, with an a/a intercooler and 8.5 to1 compression. That said I've still managed to pop head gaskets ,with k/s light going off under hard accel, in mid range. Acceleration enrichments may be able to solve this, or I'll pull more timing in 2500-3500 range.
Your timing looks scary to me, but I could be wrong.

With timing under boost you don't need to pull much at all initially but it will need to fall off steeply toward the top of the map. Should not be a linear ramp down as soon as you cross over into boost. Once you have determined the appropriate amount of timing at full boost to avoid det in the meat of the power you can work on the boost/retard ramp and try feeding some advance back in on either side of peak torque.
