Does anyone know what these wires are for?

Welcome to the forum. Someone here will know, but it will help if you specify which generation and model of BMW you’re asking about. Also, a general location of where these wires were found. Coming from the dash, transmission tunnel, below seat, etc.

That's an easy one, those are for the stereo. Violet/white is power, red/white is memory power, brown is ground and the other is probably illumination.

BMW mostly used the same color codes for things, but some euro as we refer to them, might be different, but not this one. US market car diagrams are located here, http://wedophones.com/BMWManualsLead.htm
