Routing sensor wires inside the cabin

Post by jimoreno »

I'm about to add a couple of gauges for oil pressure and temperature using the Rally Road E30 steering column mount and need to bring a couple of wires from the engine compartment into the cabin. Also, I bought a PLX Bluetooth AFR and this one has the biggest connector for the LSU.
How did you routed these inside the cabin? I'm guessing I might have to depin the LSU plug to get those inside but some ideas would be great!

You can either snake the wires through the grommet where the wiring harness goes to the ECU behind the glove box or the grommet where the body-harness goes in above the pedals.

De-pinning is almost always the smart way to go. But I've been known to be lazy.

That was my 1st choice as I had to cut the seal out of the original harness in order to use it on the 1.3 one.
How about the connection to the VDO oil temp sensor? Is it robust, meaning it won't come off? Is it for a regular spade connector but perpendicular to it? Honestly never seen it before (connection type).

You’re on the right track with depinning the LSU plug—it’s often the easiest way to route it cleanly. For wires, use an existing grommet in the firewall or drill a new hole with a rubber grommet to avoid damage
