12.37 @ 114.83 Video

Post by T_C_D »

60' 1.9421
1/8 8.0509
mph 89.65
1/4 12.3788
mph 114.83

No change to boost level or tune. Similar ambient temp as last time out.

Mods to car since 12.67 @ 111.87 run: Swapped in manual front seats, e34 M5 front brakes out, e28 M5 brakes in. 15x7 e30 M3 front wheels with 185/65/15 tires.

I am more than happy with my 213k stock motored m30b34 535is. Beat on a few "fast" cars while there.

What is that noise when you launch? Some wheel spin followed by drive shaft clunk?

Dunno. The entire car shudders during the first 60 feet.

Todd,

Pretty impressive times. Very close to NHRA Pro Stock cars from the early '70s.(You're there with the auto)

So when are you going to get serious and build a real drag racer out of an E28 ?? Full rear subframe, narrowed full floating 9" Ford live axle, ladder bars, and tubbed to run serious traction. Obviously you should also use a highly modded powerglide transmission. It would be kinda neat to see a Pro-Street E28 running in the 8 to 9 second range.

Thanks Rich for the kind words. I am all about street cars. I am not likely to build a real race car.

Had a chance to go for a ride in that monster, man talk about a brain overload! It is good to see that you are putting in more stopping power on that thing. Sometimes folk just focus only on one part, and that is the go, and forget the stop!

Todd,

I can understand not wanting to build a car that would probably require trailering to the track.

And I mispoke in my message. I was thinking NHRA Super Stock, but typed Pro Stock. Regardless, 12.27 @ 114.87 MPH is damn fast. Beats most if not all the famous muscle cars from the late '60s early '70s, plus your E28 can make turns. LOL

Forget about the old muscle cars. This time is as fast as most 2006 model super cars. It equals the times of the new M5, 911 Turbo and several other notables.

Todd

Any idea what your 0-60 times are? I tried to clock mine but it's too imprecise. They were in the 5 sec vacinity but the margin of error was too large.

With my launch control and full throttle shifting. I bet I get under that. In fact, I bet I am under the 12.67 in the 1/4 too.

So is it a boost gauge? And if so, does that mean that you didn't hit more than 07 or 08 lbs of boost?

Nope, it's an air temp gauge measuring after the intercooler. The hundreds LED is burned out.

Oh no, he does not get all of that credit. I restored and put the car together twice now. Third time (which Todd is doing) is much easier (simple R&R), nothing like working will all new or rebuilt parts. Ask him if he even got dirty working on my car. He will get credit for the tuning though.
