Operation Fix it is OVER!
Operation Fix it is OVER!
Time to break in and tune it. Now the fun finally begins.

Yep............we had several things working against the car on start up.
1. Car was sucking the last gallon of six month old gas.
2. At least one, maybe two of the fuel injectors had wires that were diconnected.
3. One or more of the spark plug wires were not seated.
4. Todd used a old, out of date - none working BIN file to modify.
A combination of all of these made start up a no go.
Happy to say that with my, Ted's and Todd's collective head knocking, the car is running well now.
I will be at the shop at 0700 to adjust the valves and install a new in tank fuel pump. I will then proceed to break in the engine. We are schedualed for a dyno run in the evening.
Followed by my return home the next morning.
Am currently sitting at Todd's fantastic house and drinking plenty O wine...............................life is SOoooooooooooooooo Gooood now. It was great to see Ted again and fantastic seeing Todd after four years.

Hey look it's loves!
And we totally need to see some pics....
and at:
1) Old gas -- I used to try to start my dirtbikes for hours until I realized that it was bad gas.
2) The injectors -- been there before too, funny that it was something like that causing problems.
3) The plugs -- I just fixed these on my 6er, they weren't plugged in all the way on the cap, and so I was only running 4 cylinders for a while... no wonder it felt so powerless.

We leave for a BMWCCA meeting at the local Lamborghini Dealership in about an hour. After that, we hit the dyno.
This morning I adjusted the valves, installed the in-tank pump and the MONGO chrome exhaust tip. I have about
86 miles on the car now of variable RPM and load driving. Todd and I drove around tuning the car with the computer. The TEC3 tunes very nicely while the car is being driven. The engine is breaking in nicely and we think it will be ready for the serious tuning on the dyno this evening.
With the valves adjusted, the engine runs like a sewing
machine. All you can hear now is the 71# injectors.
The engine is VERY responsive and will be make huge power judging by what it is doing right now.
Pictures soon.....................dyno numbers
soon......................having it home finally..........soon.
