Fuel pump capability

Post by FSAEracer03 »

I'm wondering if anyone has the flowrate capability of our cars' fuel pumps (OE) at normal fuel pressures (3bar, 3.5bar... maybe even 4bar).

Maybe someone has a pragmatic answer to this if no one does: does anyone know the hp ceiling they can handle?

What fuel pump upgrades are out there that don't burst the bank? Any Ford Motorsport in-tank pumps that will work with these cars as they do with E30s?

Thanks all,
Kevin

140lph stock

We use a Walbro 255lph in tank pump. Cost is $125 from TCD.

I might be tired and forgeting something... but are my numbers incorrect when saying 140lph can support a maximum power figure of over 400hp?

A quick conversion from lph->gph->lb/hr->hp limit says in the range of 450hp at full pump load at standardized pressure. Though that obviously doesn't take into account pump failure and heat... it looks like 300whp could be safely attained with the stock pump if I didn't forget something.

Am I going nuts?
