Took the Buzz Bomb to the track on Saturday. I had planned on running more boost but decided against it so the car ran with 16psi. Previous best was 12.99 @ 109.73 with a 3.46LSD.
Car was abt 50lbs lighter. Ambient temps were 10F colder than the last run but we ran into a 15mph headwind all day.
I also installed a 2.93LSD so that I could finish the 1/4 in 3rd gear. I also had M/T 24.5x8x15 slicks.
I was sure the car would hook and I would go at least 12.50s. Well the car hooked all right but I didn't have enough power to keep it from bogging and not enough clutch to slip it out of the hole.
This was a big lesson. With this much grip the car needs a 3.73 or 4.10. I ran 11 times in 2hr 15mins. Motor ran flawlessly. The drivetrain withstood 8 huge clutch drops including abt 5 at 6000rpm. On the last run a strap on the pressure plate broke.
I did gather some interesting data. Check out these times in back to back to back runs.
3:34PM 12.8048 @ 109.26
3:41PM 12.7627 @ 109.26
3:48PM 12.7568 @ 109.53
So much for heat soak!

How about 3.73 gears + traction control with launch and full throttle shift options?
BTW - drove up behind a black E60 M5 coming out of my neigborhood today. He was on his cell phone driving very slow, I was in the Audi. I have found the first E60 M5 to get the full M535ti treatment. More to follow. 8)

I'm thinking the flywheel is too light to launch the car with those tires…T_C_D wrote:the car hooked all right but I didn't have enough power to keep it from bogging and not enough clutch to slip it out of the hole.
