I am still okay with Saturday. Just lmk. We drove by the Blaine Starbucks last night and the Coon Rapids one is fine too. Whichever...
Man, the cold weather is really screwing with me. Since arriving I have sprung a small coolant leak, which Bars Leaks seemed to take care of...I hope. Also, my small fuel leak at the csv came back...think I tightened it down enuff. While in there I noticed a slight seeping on a fuel injector! Argh. My poor baby! Once the engine warmed up the two fuel drips went away, leading me to think it is a rubber seal or hose connection. You guys deal with this much here?
Keep me posted.

I can send an email to Bill Powell tonight, I have his email on my home computer.
As far as the cold weather fuel leaks, my 325iX will do that as well. In the fall when I first pull it out of storage I'll notice it the most, but after a few days it goes away - I figure there are seals and connections that dried out over the summer. After the first few days, it will still happen on some cold mornings, but like you said it goes away after warmup.
They're saying it will be unseasonably warm this week, with temps in the 50s and sunny all week so I think you lucked out on the weather....we could be having blizzards by now.

Big Bird get-together
legolas120. any firm-up on a meet here in Mpls? I'm picking up an87e28, 535isA parts car today and I'd like to throw it at the group for any small crap anybody may need. It's so cheap I'm not even concerned about making money, as I need the head for my euro and a lot of other small stuff, the body has the oversalted look so popular around here so it won't be on anyones hit parade! there's a foursome of Dunlop snows for sale on the southside, mounted on Borbet 7x16s look to the local craigslist.

How's the hood? What color is it? Mine's been bent by an enthusiastic PO...redunzo wrote:legolas120. any firm-up on a meet here in Mpls? Hey redunzo...per previous posts, it looks like Saturday is the day taht will work best for the most. They are talking of meeting at the Starbucks in Blaine or Coon Rapids. Keep checking here for final word. Hope you can make it...
I saw those Borbet wheels on Craigslist. They are owned by our own e28bmw535i...aka Matt. I talked to him about them. They look really nice. If I only had the $ sitting around I would snatch them up...
Hey Stuart...thanks for the words on cold weather leaks. I tend to overreact with leaks. I am just hoping these are small nothings, but will keep my eye on it closely.
Talk to you later guys...

Awh crap, sorry redunzo for not getting back to you last Thursday...my meeting got cancelled over in St. Louis Park and I forgot your number @ home. Plus, turns out I won't have space for a carcus in my garage anyway...you must've found a place then? When can we come pick at it? Very nice of you to offer by the way!
Actually legolas, those wheels redunzo is talking about are the same as mine but are mounted w/winter tires and he only has four. Not sure if in as nice of shape as my five wheels are but since they have winter tires, I'm sure they are the ones in the most demand at this point! Thanks for mentioning mine anyway. But if those wheels in the photo of your `87 535is are the ones your having trouble getting to work...I'd continue trying! Those look really nice!!!!

On the parts car topic, I've got a burgundy 528e with no title at my dad's place that can be burgled for parts as well. I think a deconstruction party needs to occur for that one. Shame, really, since the body is pretty clean and nice. Paint is rough, but there's really no rust at all. I'm going to steal the hood and paint to more or less match the 535, and the suspension seems really nice, so I'll probably just steal it all and throw it on my car.redunzo wrote:way cool wheels, legolas120, the Borbets are the five spoke star and expose the rotor/caliper combo to the eye so clean, painted brake parts tend to enhance
No title, bought as such, owner deserted it. Seems it's just not easy to get a title for a car without the previous owner.redunzo wrote:can't re-title? Salvage? Could make one decent running car out of two? Mine's zf Auto and rusty, two strikes, yours 5-speed? Mine, cracked block, trx's
Mine's a 5-speed, perfect transplant candidate. I only drove it once, but the tranny and everything worked perfectly. Diff is shot. I'd like some of the black interior, but honestly, apart from that and the hood, there's not much there I really want. Let's get you a five speed.

Actually, my bbs wheels are doing better. I went ahead and had new tierods, center link and upper control arms put on. I do still have a slight shimmy, but at 50mph now! At least I can cruise at 80 and not have a problem now. I can't think about the shimmy or I would go crazy. Still not too sure what it could be...
Still on for Sat. now?

Sounds like Saturday is the favorite choice, so let's do that...the next issue is what time? Morning or afternoon? The forecast is for sunny and a high of 45, so I suggest waiting until mid-afternoon so we can stand around outside and look at cars in the sun.
I'll make an executive decision and say let's do it at 2pm Saturday, at Starbucks Coffee, 12555 Ulysses St NE, Blaine, MN (763) 862-9910. It's just off the intersection of Hwy 65 (Central Avenue NE) and Main Street NE. Will that work for everyone?

You got your car back together already? You don't waste time....Bill in MN wrote:I'm going to give it a shot to get down there in the S2. It needs to stretch its legs before hibernation.
Has anyone heard from mystery man Powell??
I sent Mr. Powell an email last night. Haven't heard from him for a while either, I assume work's been keeping him busy.

It went back together about a week or so after you guys were up here. It runs, as they say, like an open sore and has been the daily driver when there isn't white stuff on the ground. I do get a lot of odd looks when I drive it up to meet the boys at the lumber yard for coffee every morning dressed in my filthy Carhartt bibs. It was even more hilarious when I'd pull up in the E Type. People up here think I'm nuts.....which I am
