E90 335i tuned w/Xede Piggyback+Exhaust to 335whp...

Gee, that was fast. Dyno plot
I guess those guys at BF.c who said it wouldn't be done are WRONG, as usual. There is also a link there with a tuner in Germany with a real re-flash for ~50hp.
This is all from Vishnu. He says the stock system is good for ~370whp max. From there you'll need other hardware upgrades, mainly turbos for more power.

I see this for the 335i forum future - "BMW voids my warranty........WTF!" These cars will fall into the Sport compact world of morons tuning the car while it is still in warranty and then getting the ass when the manufacture voids the cars warranty due to the mods blowing up the engine. Mark my words, we will see it soon.T_C_D wrote:

Friday i went to a bmw dealership here in minneapolis and asked about the E90 wagons.. was wondering if the 335i engine would show up in the E90 touring or x-touring.
I can say honestly that those guys definitely did not want to sell me a car.. pretty abysmal service. Guy also mentinoed the 335 engine is not showing up in the E90 wagon. I happen to think he's a shit eating dumbass, since iirc it already exists in Europe.
Experiences like this will have me buying Audi, not BMW. I had just come from an Audi dealership that was happy to sell me a car with more rear leg room and better fuel economy, and similar safety equipment, for over 10k less. And with VAG-COM I am not 120% screwed trying to work on it myself.

Um, Im not that put out by it. Its the "easy and fast" way to get the job done. The FI ECUs in these cars are very complex and encrypted from what I here.T_C_D wrote:

Also, to me, its just another CPU in a car that has about 15 or so. Gee, whats another one. But, if BMW makes enough vehicles with the N54, there'll be real flash upgrades just like the Audi, Suby and Evo stuff.
Duke, I don't put BMW on such a high pedistal. Umm, there are "customers" doing the same thing(warranty void'ing) with $100k Mercedes, $75k Audis, Jaguars, $40k diesel trucks ect and now BMW. Customers know the risks, but your right, thell scream if happens to them anyway. I think its silly really.Duke M535ti wrote:

I love that every post in that thread is "the dealer wont be able to detect it, right? i still want my warranty coverage"
I have no love of car corporatinos and I understand they are in the "we pee on your warranty" business, but come on. Losers in the forced induction crowd that are making 1.5-2x the factory horsepower and then trying to cover it up when their engine starts acting goofy are shitheads. They ruin it for the people that aren't lying sacks of shit.

Some of the reasons why we have a 04 Audi A6. The BMWs are just plain ugly. I have a VAG-COM and love it. If I want, I can hook up the laptop and watch more engine parameters than I ever need too. I used it to re-program the car for the factory NAV system. I also re-programmed the car to auto lock and use the remote to open and close the windows. Stuff the dealer claims you can not do.Matt wrote:

They seriously think that the dealer or people work for them do not read the forums....idiots. Remember the Subaru punk kid who blew up his engine, removed all of the mods and then took it to a dealer claiming is just blew? He bragged about it on line and one of the other members pointed the dealer to the forum. Needless to say, the kid got black flagged by the dealer and had to buy his own engine. I am sure mommy or daddy paid though.

I forgot the most important reason, you can bolt on mods and make a BMW thats 200lbs less have as much rwhp as a ///M3 has bhp costing $15k more. That will get even the BMW snobs interested, let alone the younger crowd I see at Edge Motorworks Dyno days.
To the one there was a buzz about Vishnu and his bolt on for the N54, especially since it was right here in my backyard, Livermore where he did the work. It seemed almost everyone there knew about. And there was alot of talk like,"gee, will they put it in a wagon", "put it in the 5er", "put it in the Z", put it in the X" etc. There was excitement for the marque like I have not seen in a very long time. Probably as far back as the late '80s when the first ///M cars hit, especially the E30 ///M3(the car that saved BMW I believe!).

He's lucky all he had to do was pay for a new engine. If he lied to them to get warranty work done he could have been arrested and the car impounded...Duke M535ti wrote:Remember the Subaru punk kid who blew up his engine, removed all of the mods and then took it to a dealer claiming is just blew? There's no problem with people wanting to tune their own cars. However, until you pay it off and the bank hands over the title, it's really not "yours", now is it? If you're going to void the warranty by upping the specs on the motor, feel free. Just don't cry like a little pansy if the motor doesn't like it and craps itself. And certainly don't take the mods off and bitch when BMW denies warranty work.rundatrack wrote:Duke

Some people love to tune new platforms...and to be the first regarding innovation.
Nothing is wrong with that...weather it is sports compact or euro market...
Warranty shouldnt stifle creativity.

Not many people are buying new cars cash...
so is the problem with the tuning or the problem with people complaining or taking off the mods trying to fool the dealer?
If its the latter...so be it..
Still think that it is great that someone is tuning this platform already
I'd like to see temperature graphs for the charge air and the exhaust gas at different loads, boost levels and RPM.russc wrote:Another BF.c thread with more dynos and AFR graphs.

i dont know about the bmw's but all of the newer mazda's (rx8, 6's 3's etc) the ecu is networked in with the traction control, climate control, instrument cluster, etc etc.T_C_D wrote:I am surprised to read that customers in this category would consider a piggy back.russc wrote:Another BF.c thread with more dynos and AFR graphs.

this means a piggyback is really the best way to go about things, or wire a standalone to act like a piggyback.
The xede that Vishnu is doing has a pass through inter-connect. So its non-invasive. ECU plugs in one end, the harness plugs into the other side.j9fd3s wrote:i dont know about the bmw's but all of the newer mazda's (rx8, 6's 3's etc) the ecu is networked in with the traction control, climate control, instrument cluster, etc etc.T_C_D wrote:I am surprised to read that customers in this category would consider a piggy back.russc wrote:Another BF.c thread with more dynos and AFR graphs.

I had the privaledge to have the first drive in the first 6-spd 335i here almost two months ago; I absolutely loved it! Though I'm a fan of the classical turbo powerband, it was really nice to have torque rushing it at 1500rpm. The car was easy to drive, and easy to drive fast with only one exception: the brakes. Heel-and-toe downshifting was a PITA thanks to the newfangled braking system that "prepares" the brakes for you in snap-throttle condition. Heel-and-toe shifts were therefore too abrupt for my tastes.
That does sound annoying. But maybe it would help the driver learn to not snap-off-throttleFSAEracer03 wrote:Heel-and-toe downshifting was a PITA thanks to the newfangled braking system that "prepares" the brakes for you in snap-throttle condition. Remember boys and girls - a datalog of all or your inputs - pedal position, wheel position, etc, should look like sin(t)
Update, 93 octane maps..91octane increase
New programming for the Xede computer plus hardware changes now make 353whp/405lb-ft
Getting better all the time. Also made 5whp more with 91 octane. vishnu just keep tweaking up and up.
