Drag radials full time?

Post by Craig -535i- Seattle »

I'm considering running drag radials full time (during warmer months) due to some pretty serious traction issues. This is a popular trick with some of my supercharged Mustang driving friends (350+ rwhp/torque) but was wondering if anyone here has done it. The sidewalls are a bit soft, but you can up the air pressue and they stiffen up somewhat. Plus I'm ready to go to the strip at any time. :)

You can get Nittos in 245/45-17 or 275/40-17.

Another option would be to just run my track tires full time (RA1s), which of course would cause them to wear faster and I'm taking a chance of picking up a nail or something which would effectively ruin the tire.

Do they fit? I was worried about clearance with that size.

I fit 265s on my e28. You can surely fit a 275 on the e34. The fenders will likely need to be rolled.
