Not on aluminum they don't. That's exactly what one of the writeups was talking about. That stuff will chew up aluminum very quickly. Cast iron on the other hand isn't nearly so delicate.

Well that is the popular opinion amung experts BUT I have done countless headgasgets on many cars including too many VW TDIs(which have MLS gasgets). Havent ever has one fail in this manner either. Rolocks dont blow headgasgets, people blow headgasgets.

Don't let Chris get under your skin. It's just his form of humor. I'm actually looking forward to meeting him at 5er Fest. I don't believe he was ever in the military, I was born and raised in a military family and did 6 years in the USAF (before the military became PC). I can get really sick and vulgar if need be. But this forum isn't the place for that.

I unfortunately was in the 3rd Herd (3rd Combat Communication Group) and we played with the Army and Marines. I spent too much time driving M-series vehicles in convoy and slogging through mud. Our unit was also part of the Rapid Deployment Force. When I wasn't out playing Combat Trained Kill'r I was messing around supporting 6th Weather Sq. Mobile. They launched weather balloons into really bad T-storms providing the Nat'l Severe Storms Laboratory data for the then (late '70s) experimental Doppler RADAR.

Good info, the only other thing I'd like to see more of is recommendadtions for area machine shops that do excellent engine work, by having the skills and tools to do the work correctly. My contribution would be Engler Bros. on Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica. They blueprinted and rebuilt four of my mid-'60's Chrysler MaxWedge and Hemi's a number of times, which kept me in the top ten SSA during that period. The fathers are gone, but their son's carry on the quality work and have their fathers tricks, according to my friends who still use and count on their services.
