Here's what I emailed:

Hi, got a 87 535is that I will be turbocharging. Do you plan on making a
turbo chip for the E28? I know it's not as popular as the E30 but it is a
growing market.

Hello Jay,

I had not planned it but if there is a market, I will work on it. Currently, I am down at Metric Mechanic for the week where I am developing and testing various MAF conversions. I am going to convert an e28 m5 that they just made into a 3.9L to run with a MAF. The MAF can also be used on an E28 and I'd think it would work well with a turbo. I'll discuss this further when I return.

Whay do peole keep thinking that the MAF conversion is a new thing. Been around for over 12 years now.

Sure, but not many people used them because of the tuning, and prohibitive expense. There's still a market if anyone can do it right, and cheaper!

MAF conversion that plugs directly into the Motronic 1.0A without a converter box in between is new.

Hell, why are we talking about "engines" and "forced induction" anyway? Engines have been around for 100 years and people have been force feed feeding them since the 30s. Nothing new there at all. :roll:

From what I gather there's MAF conversion's, and turbo chips for E.C.U.

What I'm looking for is possibly a MAF conversion with related turbo software.

I emailed Millerperformance here's what he said:

Our MAF systems are designed to go before the turbo, we do not have software readily available for your application. Our FI package that you are referring to is a package designed for people like yourselves that want to make our MAF work with a little bit of our help. Because we can't always come to you or vice versa, the FI package is a way of guaranteeing that we take the time to sit down and help you 'Long distance' tune your car. Basically you report back to us A/F ratio's etc and from our knowledge and experience we tweak some software and send it out. This is repeated until you are satisfied with the tune of your engine

He was very prompt in answering my email, like in 30minutes. So I don't know, but he basically said if there's a market then he would fill it.

You had nothing to do with m30b34 development! RussC and I developed those 4 years ago.

I paid you to create bin files for the 173. You created the bin files based on my specification. I did the development in the Buzz Bomb.

Who said MAF conversions are a new thing?

Did anyone say turbo kits are a new thing? Why do people still make those then?

I had plans to make a MAF conversion back in 1997, but a famous chip developer from UTAH told me it was very hard to do properly. But actually I have been busy with other work till now.

The point is that I did all the actual development.. You know, dyno time, drag strip, tens of thousands of miles and I have the broken pistons on my desk to prove it.

But since I recently purchased a OBD1 and Motronic editor I'll be able to improve the chips myself. :lol:

Yes. Very simple programming changes based on standalone dyno experience.

I also have the ability to program on the fly now with an emulator. It means if someone really wanted to run Motronic and 37lb injectors with no fmu, I could do it.

Spoke with my turbo guy today. He is getting started on the k27/Garret hybrid and doesn not forsee any problems.

013 with ability to have oversized injectors, k27/Garret hybrid, Tial wastegate, and an upgraded factory knock box would be the stuff.Image
