14 psi spring installed

Post by GregATL »

Well I just installed my 14 psi spring. Damn it was very difficult to get the cap back on the wastegate with that spring in there. I actually removed the wasegate from the car to put the spring back in and then reinstalled the wastegate.

I have yet to drive it but I am about to leave work so I'll get a short drive with it on. I'll be needing a dyno day again soon. Maybe next week.

Well now that's more like it. I would say that this is quite a different car then it was 6 weeks ago. It is really fast. Not fast enough yet mind you but really fast nontheless.

Earlier today on my way back from lunch an e36 M3 who I ended up behind was really trying to show me how fast his car was. I just kept it planted about 2 car lengths off his bumper the whole time. I didn't try to pass him as we didn't have the road for it but I could have if conditions allowed.

That was before I put the spring in it. ;)

It's noticably faster now. I was making my torque peak of 326 ft lbs with the shimmed setup before but it fell on it's nose about 4500 rpm. Now it pulls alot harder up top. Can't wait to dyno it again. I'm thinking wednesday next week as I just don't see that I'll have any time available prior to that.

Now for the sad part. As fast as this car is I find that I'm already used to it. I knew this would happen just not so quick. I want to go much faster. Anyone care to go to Bonneville next year?

Great news. 14 psi should feel damn fast.

I may be in the Atlanta area in the next few weeks. I found a dyno that has a TEC3 tuner there.

The shop is - www.balancedperformance.com and is in Sugar Hill

I would think there would be a good tec3 guy or 2 in Atlanta. Lots of folks with modded cars around there.

I will be in Atlanta from the 8th of May till the 11th at which time we fly to Hawaii. Back on the 18th but then have to return to Houston for a week and then back to Atlanta just in time to go to 5erfest. Craziness. If you're doing the dyno thing during a time when I'm in town I'll definitely come meet up with you. Please don't plan around my schedule however. It can change at any moment.

And thanks.

Was that a question or a statement?

It was neither really and he already has a thread about it somewhere else asking if anyone in Atlanta could help him sort through some issues on his car. I suggested that if my schedule allowed I would be happy to help turn some wrenches. Unfortunately it doesn't appear I am going to be in town hardly at all before 5erfest so I think since he had probably read my post with my schedule to Duke he realized I wouldn't be able to help and made a feeble attempt to see if someone else could help him. Did you catch all that. Sorry for the run-on sentences.

5erfly, you need to start tackling your cars issues one at a time on your own for now. Ask alot of questions in Tech Talk if you get stuck or don't know where to start even. You will get a ton of help from the people here once you are underway with your repairs. Just remember to use the search before asking or some people will get upset.
