Oh yea,

I just spent three hours replacing both my U-joints again. Yes, these were 514G Precision Universal Joints I had hoped would last longer. The center one was fine, the rear had one of the bearing cups shattered in half.

I am sure it happened at 5er Fest when I demonstrated the RLTC Launch with BNC and Jake Hall in the car. The extra 300 lbs was wonderful and the car launched like never before. I felt a vibration at the end of the launch and I think that is when the U-joint was damaged.

Then I decided to flush all of the brake fluid and bleed the four calipers and clutch system with my pressure bleeder. The pressure bleeder failed and the brake fluid was quickly pumped out of the top where the pump handle is located, all over my engine compartment and suspension. So I spent another 30 minutes washing the brake fluid off of the car. Then got to mop up the service bay. So that is a $50 bleeder in the crapper with $15 worth o DOT 4 brake fluid waisted.

It's a love hate relationship...you just have to forget all of the little problems that makes the hate unbearable sometimes. I'm just glad I can say that this car drives more than it sits for repair.....thats better than I can say about some of my other cars...

I feel your pain. Every time something breaks, I say "I am fixing it and selling it while I can." Ask Johnny! LOL

Anyway, drive my 535 and you'll realize how nice your car really is! After driving Kyle's 533 at the fest, I realized how great these cars can be, and suddenly don't care for mine much anymore.

I feel like I am stuck in a vicious cycle. I can afford a well-sorted E28, but I always buy a trouble car that sucks up time and money and just makes me angry.

Is this the cheap BavAuto/Movit/etc $50 pressure bleeder that's sold everywhere?

If so I've had one fail on me too. The pressure hose split on mine. Piece of crap.

I've since engineered (well...actually it was 'parts bin engineering') a $200 'ultimate' brake bleeder. Feel free to email me for more info. This brake bleeder was based on the one sold by Steve D'Gerolamo of Ultimate Garage back in the late 1990s. It's VERY heavy duty. I've only since used it once, so I have no long history of mine; but the parts are the same as the one a friend of mine had from Steve D'G since 1998 and used it hundreds of times with no issues.

Why don't we (turbo'd people) all just swap cars for a while so that we can see the strengths and deficiencies in our, and each others cars.

The stipulation would be that anything that breaks on your watch is your responsibility to repair.

Additionally, they would all need to be insured on stated value policies during this time.

And yes, my ignorant optimism often gives me great ideas such as this.

I think that the cars are pretty solid for the age. If your a DIYer then these cars are actually perfect. Engine is solid and just upgrading a lot of the suspension parts makes it lovely

My 533 was the best car that I ever owned.
