The video VS the Z06

Post by turbodan »

Its a compilation, I'm up at :56. I'm on the left, Z06 in the center lane. I would have liked to see it from inside my car. That would have been neat. Maybe next time.

That disclaimer at the beginning is pretty damned lame -- what a crock of bull! Do you think that anyone would believe that or protect them in any way? Oh, please!

That's pretty cool! I think you got a slight jump on him, but impressive nontheless.

See, the big six isn't the only "player" for a turbo E28. And, we should stick together in the future to share our experiences instead of pissing on each other. People with valuable information might decide to jump ship.....

Turbodan, what tranny are you running?
Thanks!

Nothing personal dude, but you are certainly not up to speed with current American politics or have been firmly entrenched in its legal system either. In comparison, the disclaimer is low ppm on the BS meter.

Yeah, I wouldn't have bothered with that had I been responsible for editing the video. We all know it went down in Mexico anyway...

It seemed even to me, but its hard to say. We went from where I like to go in first gear, and I don't know where a Z06 is in first gear at 20 miles an hour. That probably had a lot to do with it. I'm just glad it took him until fourth gear to get me back. I'm sure I'll run him again in the future with more boost and a stronger clutch.

The tranny is a Getrag 260 from a 1984 533i. I sent it to Metric Mechanic for the Ultimate transmission treatment in early 2005. They changed the bellhousing to fit an m20 block and fitted a universal rear case that'll fit either the aluminum or steel shifter consoles. It should have the brass synchros, bronze silicon shift forks, tapered roller layshaft bearings and all that fancy crap inside too. I don't think a regular 260 would have any problem with the power though.

You're right. I don't pay much of any attention to the news and what little I do get is from Entertainment Tonight (I LOVE that show, BTW!) and MTV. Would you be so kind as to explain this to someone as naive as myself? Thanks ever so much!
