How much power can the m106 exhaust manifold make?
How much power can the m106 exhaust manifold make?
With a modern, large turbo? Ive heard the dinans are only good for about 300, is the bmw manifold any better?
I'm trying to gather parts for a mostly off the shelf bmw turbo project( with non bmw turbo, and MegaSquirt and injectors, still don't know about an intercooler, might have to go custom on that)
I guess I'm a little crazy but I would have more fun failing at this than having a nice TCD kit(and they are real nice).
Thanks

Almost any m30 log manifold (Dinan included) should support 400rwhp pretty easily.bimmerboy wrote:With a modern, large turbo? Ive heard the dinans are only good for about 300, is the bmw manifold any better?

I heard the 524td manifold was only good for 205. Ha!bimmerboy wrote:With a modern, large turbo? Ive heard the dinans are only good for about 300, is the bmw manifold any better?

Don't just believe everything you hear...

I've read 300, though I never saw any proof. Can't wait to see your 'rat rod' bust that number!turbodan wrote:I heard the 524td manifold was only good for 205. Ha!

yea but zane's engine and manifolds came out of a bmw turbo race car. They were not production pieces as far as i know......and he uses an m88 manifold (not sure if they are any different at all).vance wrote:Zane's car utilizes a modified m106 manifold, so apparently it can make some pretty big numbers with the right set-up.

Need a fact check on that. The M88/S38 wouldn't even fit. They used four bolt flanges, the M30 uses offset two bolt flanges. I don't even think it could be made to work. An M106 manifold will at least fit.gol10dr1 wrote:yea but zane's engine and manifolds came out of a bmw turbo race car.
