First time at the track
First time at the track
I managed a 13.80 at 100 with a rwd noob status 2.19 60 foot time. I really need to work on launching it. The 225/60's on there weren't quite doing the trick. I think with a little more boost, a bigger downpipe and megasquirt it could be a low 13 second car, maybe more. I'll see in the next few months...
The clutch is awesome. Now its just the tires slipping. The golden run was a few hours in at about 10:45. It cooled down to about 80 on the track from about 100 earlier in the afternoon. Winds were calm.
Reaction: .684
60 foot: 2.192
1/8 mile: 8.943
1/8 mph: 84.909
ET: 13.806
MPH: 100.032
I was really trying to launch it more than beat the lights, hence the reaction time. The trap could be better because I kept holding on to 3rd gear. I didn't get enough runs in to determine if it was better to hold 3rd or grab 4th and get back into the powerband near the end.
I will return when the MS is in and tuned. I'll probably make a new downpipe with some 3 inch bends I have sitting around to replace the single 2.5" OD tube its using now. It needs a bigger fuel pump too. It should do significantly better next time around.

3.25 LS. Its a good ratio, maybe a little tall, but its great for mileage. There are times when its just off cam though, which is an occasional bummer on the street. I was considering a 3.73, but that would probably make it too willing to break traction. Hopefully it'll grow into that ratio with more power.
Dan,
I am really impressed with the execution of your car. Despite it's looks , it is a solid if not impressive performer. 85mph in the 1/8 @ 5000ft is nothing to sneeze at!
It does fall on it's face the 2nd 1/8 mile but that is the nature of the m20 and poor aero of the car.
How much does the car weigh? My guess is 2950lbs or less.

Its probably about 3000 with me in it. I probably should have been grabbing 4th instead of winding out 3rd past 6k. It really feels overrevved trying to clear 100 like that, and I'm sure it was affecting my trap speed and ET to some extent. I'll try 4th next time. I was still pulling cars on the top end though, suprisingly enough.
I'm really looking forward to a bigger downpipe and megasquirt. Theres more in there for sure...

It'll be slower shifting into 4th gear. Install a 2.93 or 3.07 when you have more power.turbodan wrote:Its probably about 3000 with me in it. I gotta say that you could shave two tenths off your et if your launch was better. I run 2.2s in the 60ft in my NA car. With your power and wider tires I would suggest launching low and trying your best to not break traction...you should be able to get under 2.0 in the 60 ft with your kind of power and lightness.
